Have a look at the piccy in post 29. Your dish face should look like that, plus or minus 15mm back and forth on the top edge. Not more than that mate .

i think i'll take motor down (even though it's not connected) and put it back on to solid bracket and try again

Certainly looks a lot healthier and more like it.
Is that a small arrow under the elevation bolt on the motor ?
Sorry can't quite read the scale, but im sure it's right.
You stand a better chance with the dish looking like that.
bit concerned about the lack of available adjustment though.

i had sort of the same problem fitting mine m8 it makes me laugh when reading your threads because i have been there.when i first set mine up sat meter digital compass the lot got south found very strong signal with sat meter job done.went upstairs nothing went down again strong signal 80%+ arr went back upstairs nothing.went like this for three days done every think in the book if i had one at the time taped the compass to the lnb arm got due south pressed the sat button on the compass thor 1 great signal went up stairs nothing.then i realiseed the compass was i dud all the metal around scaffold pole etc interferring with the compass looked at all the other sats around looked right.who wrong i was infact i was miles off 1w i was more like30east so double double check you are on the right sat thor 1 does give a ok signal to set up just do one thing at a time.i know this will not help with you set up but we've all been there m8
