Manhattan H-H 120 DisEqC up to 1.2m dish
CRYPTIK DIGITAL H-H DisEqC 1.2m dish
Stab H-H120 Diseqc 1.2 Motor

I am setting up a new motorised system in my home. I have ordered the dish, mount and lnb so far but im stuck with what receiver and motor to use. I have seen the above motors? What would people recommend and can people recommend any others? Money is not an object and looking to create a good system. What receivers would people recommend? I have looked at the Technomate 1500 CI Super but have also read that you can receive pay tv for free using a dreambox and getting the keys, etc?

I am going to be using:

1.1m Triax
T & K 24" brackets with scaffolding pole
Invacom offset focus Single LNB - Low noise 0.3dB

Stab is probably the best of those motors.

You can do the same sort of thing with the keys etc with the Technomate, it also has a more sensitive tuner than the DB.

I put up a Triax TD110 for a mate and attached an HH120 and it flapped about in the lightest of winds and was very slow.

My advice - get a polar mount and an actuator, if you can't work out how to fit one of those, get a 36 volt motor, they are much better than any Diseqc motor.

What is the Jaeger 1224 H-H Mount like?

What kit do I need for an actuator/polar mount? What kit do people recommend?

All the Jaeger kit is top class. But why would you want an H-H motor when you can get a polar mount and actuator? The cost is very similar to a diseq motor about £70.

The only reason to get the the H-H would be to get the top of the range
SMR-1224EL which moves in four directions so you can get a perfect arc with inclined orbit satellites, in other words, it moves up and down as well as left and right.

If you are going to get a Dreambox, you will need to get a seperate positoner to work with any 36 volt kit. The best thing about 36 volt motors is that you can see the TV picture whilst using the motor to move the dish, you can't do this with diseqc kit as the signal and power go down the same cable. There is a positioner on Fleabay for £10 which about what I paid for mine used.

Thanks!!

So if I get an official Triax polar mount kit, an actuator and a V Box. Will this be a good setup?

What size actuator would you recommend with a TD 110 dish? Does the satellite superstore stock the triax polar mount?

Triax do a polar mount for their dishes, the actuator size should be advised by your dealer but I think 12 inches is most popular. The bloke at satellite superstore will tell you what you need, I spoke to him once, he seemed okay.

If you get a Vbox, it connects in to the back of the reciever so you only need one remote control rather than two remotes with a 'stand alone' positioner which does not connect to the reciever. I have never used a Vbox but a lot of people buy them so I guess they are pretty good. Still, I would buy the stand alone positioner on Ebay because if you are going to get a dreambox and try different software, the software may have bugs in it and the motor goes to the wrong place. It's all down to personal choice I suppose - what car do you like maunal or auto gearbox?

If money is no object I would get an HDTV reciever like the Fortec Passion and then add a cam to get extra chanells. New Dreambox coming soon with HDTV.

Thanks for all your help. I have emailed the guy at the sat superstore asking if they sell the triax polar mounts because i cant find them on his site. I have found patched technomate boxes on ebay so i am thinking of going with one of them.

If you buy a patched technomate you will still need to keep it up to date with the latest firmware and keys.

I would recommend buying new and patching it yourself.

I have decided to get a Jaeger 1224EL. Does this fit onto a TD110 easily? Can you buy an adaptor to make it fit?

That motor may need two positioners to work the both the motor and the actuator but I never seen one up close. You had better talk to the dealer. Personally, I think you are wasting your money, a smaller H-H motor would have been fine or better still the polar mount.

Ive read the polar mount can resrict how far it can go left and right, dont know if this is true? I want to be able to get as much out of the motor/actuator as possible. The Triax polar mount is ~£60 and a decent 12inch actuator is ~£40. The only place I can find which has the official triax polar mount is creativesatellite.co.uk. Anybody know anywhere else? Anyone got any bigger pictures of it?

Yes you do require two positioners apparently to use the 1224EL but I might just get a 1224. I do not even know if a 1224 can be mounted on a TD110 without having to make your own mount.

What H-H motor would you recommend? Sorry for all the questions, your help is much appriciated.

In the UK you need a dish that goes 45 East to 35 West, there is nothing worth watching past these points. Phone Triax UK and get thier advice, I bet that the polar mount will do this and more, probably 50 east to 50 west.

The last time I saw a Triax polar mount it was £45 at Brymar. The H-H motor I would go for is the smaller Jeager 128 but hard to find these days maybe need to order it. Do no listen to dealer trying to sell you expensive stuff you don't need.

As regards which box to buy, again I say get HD box, this is the future but if you buy cheap technomate you can sell it on Fleabay easy enuff, they are in demand.
Maplin is a good place to buy HD box £149.00 special offer until 2/10.

the jaeger 1224 motor wont fit the triax dish unless you make some kind of adapter plate for it

the polar mount + actuator will work on the dish and is the best option with 12 or 18inch actuator

how far is the dish going as the jaeger smr 99 36volt h2h motor will work if its not too high up

Think about getting a Gibertini 1.2 metre dish, they do polar mounts for that dish and it can take a C120 feedhorn instead of normal LNB. C120 is better than normal LNB.

Don' think Triax sell the polar mount any more, no demand due to Disqec motors.

Maybe RolfW knows how good Gibertini are, I have never used one but see a few about.

Seen it tnx Wod.

Yep can recommend the Gibbi, the CM feedhorn works really well with these.
Using an Inverto C120 Twin 0.3 on it at the moment as it's marginally better than the Invacom C120 single i tried.

So far seem to be the only one I know of who gets a picture from Eurobird 2 at 25.5E with a comparable sized antenna so it must be doing OK.
