Hello,

I wonder if someone could help me with my problem.
I have tried to mount a shared folder from my computer to be able to record from the Dreambox.
Anyone know how to do this?

I have a dreambox 500Hd and a computer with windows 7.

Many thx in advance

Hi,does this help, choose the folder you want to share, right click on it and choose properties. In the Sharing tab, turn on sharing. Feel free to name your folder anything you want and ignore any warnings Windows gives about the name being longer than 12 characters.

That I have already done, also created a user on the computer for dreambox. Hove mounted it but can't find the recording path in the dreambox.

Check to see if the DM500 is showing up in the "Network" folder on the W7 PC, to do this hit the "Start" button (bottom right corner of your screen) then click on the "Network" tab, wait till it fills up, then do you see the DM500 listed under "Media Devices" or any other place in the "Network" folder?

If not then W7 does not recognize it and you wont be able to share anything to/from it.

You might have to go back to XP pro to get it to work.

If you can't mount the W7 share on the DM500 then first check that both devices are in the same network domain - e.g i/p addresses such as 192.168.0.24 and 192.168.0.1. You should also check for any fire-wall problems on your lan - W7 might be too restrictive. Personally I wouldn't use any flavour of Windows as a server, but as Terryl says you might need to go back to XP Pro to get things to work. It might be beneficial to try mounting the share from the command line in a telnet session on the DM500 rather than using the blue button in setup.A command such as this one works for me when I need to use a Samba (SMB protocol) share as a hard disk on DM7000/7020 :

mount -t cifs -o username=dreambox,password=letmein //192.168.0.2/Recordings /hdd

Hope this helps
