Just Sharing This Mouse Problem

I have a Microsoft USB wired mouse and it has been acting strangely over the past week.
I tried to make changes from the control panel, without success.
Finally I replaced it with a mouse that I hardly use for my laptop and this one seems to work well.

I find that dust gets in the laser hole and can cause weird behaviour. Blowing it out usually helps.

I am going to dismantle it completely and give it a thorough cleaning.
I see one screw in the middle but I know that the feet hide some latching mechanism and I don't have a tool to pry them off.
Will try a needle when I have the time.

If it is a mini mouse with a thin twin cable and fitted length adjuster they are notorious for failing at the mouse entry point, causing intermittant connections, I have a drawer full of them as my wife refuses to use the pad on the laptop but hates big mice

Not a mini. Just a standard Microsoft mouse bought in 2013.
I will enjoy dismantling it over the weekend.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The mouse I have here is notoriously picky on the colour (or texture) of the table underneath it. Only a dark grey or blue satin sheen surface will do.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Got lots of Logitech M215 cordless ones (don't like corded mice - the cables seem to get caught in "everything" - but just had to take a couple apart to clean them, and looks like I need to do that to at least 1 more. In those mice, the screws are under the feet below the cover over the battery compartment - somewhat difficult to reassemble until you get the "knack"!
