MPEG2 4:2:0 is the compression system used in a domestic STB. Whether the video is encoded in PAL or another system (NTSC etc.) has no bearing on the type of MPEG2 transmitted. The one you can't receive may be NTSC.

You should be able to resolve NTSC on your TV if it has NTSC/PAL switching. Maybe the feed is encrypted in something like Powervu (although this is not generally used for feeds). What satellite/transponder are you looking at?

You haven't answered Llew's question from 3 weeks ago regarding the same issue

I think most receives for domestic use suppport 4:2:0 (ie Main profile @main Level). 4:2:2 is for broadcasters use where video is of higher quality and used for contribution links ( where broadcasters need to edit video after receiving)

if youre receiver supports 4:2:2 profile @main level it will decode both formats

No, none of the current domestic STB's can resolve MPEG 4:2:2.,
although tests with the Quali-TV QS 1080R HDTV STB have found it possible to clear feeds broadcast in 4:2:2.
Don't know the price of this box, and it doesn't have Diseqc motor control or CI slots, so it is a bit limited otherwise.

See h**p://www.dvdlibrary.co.uk/qualitv%20qs1080.htm

for details if you're interested.

A skystar 1 or 2 card does 4.2.2. with very good results using PROGDVB amongst other software. You can find them for about 50 pound or cheaper on auction sites.
