I've got a SKY multiroom install, the main SKY+ install is fine, the bedroom std receiver has noticable blocking/shimmering. Receiver is Pace DS430n.
Checked against old Pace 2400 - same problem.

Had new dish/quad LNB fitted (solid 65cm/lower noise), signal levels up (75->90%), problem remains.

Could siting receiver ontop of Philips CRT TV, cause this issue?:-bash:-bash

The siting on top of the TV shouldn't affect it, a DECT telephone is more likely to, is it OK on the feed to the Sky+ room. What is the quality reading on the errant box and does it do it on all channels?

SKY+ room is fine. Quality reading is 90% (same as SKY+ room), strength also 90%.
Some channels are worse than others, ITV1 & Sky Too(2), particularly bad.
We have no portable land line based phones, that is what DECT are?
There is a cell phone mast on the hill 1.6km away.

Just to repeat : tried known good box (Pace2400), same result, had new dish& LNB - no difference.:confused:confused

Well there aren't too many things it can be, either cable run, connectors, or external RF interference, if it were the mobile mast it would probably affect both receivers in the house. Any chance of running a test cable run from dish to receiver?

Well, "blocking" (picture breaking up into square) is pretty certainly due to poor - not necessarily low strength - signal and nothing else.

Note that, when you look at "signal quality", it's for default transponder (epg one, I think!). If blocking only on some channels, then you have to look at those, which means getting the particular details (via websites), and entering into "manual tune" in special installer menu, then you get a quality reading for that one (as Rolf says!).

Could well be from other stuff, some mobile phone systems transmit within the sat i.f. band (from lnb into receiver), can't remember dect frequencies (2.4 ghz?) and would only affect some channels. However, there's various other possible interference, beats harmonics, etc.

Shimmering puzzling, can you describe further?

This might sound like a daft suggestion - are you using the digibox in PAL or RGB mode? If they're in PAL, that could be the shimmering problem...
