For the owners of certain PC satellite-cards:
last week the product "Multidec v8.0" was released. It runs on the PC and emulates a CI CAM. Yes, it emulates the CAM - not just the card! This is the first software emulation of a CAM to be released. Expect more developments around this area in the future!

Download the software (& source-code) here:
http://www.netzagent.com/freetv/digi1.htm

It uses "softcam keys" - you can find them too at the above site, by clicking on the "keysitekeysite..." link and then selecting the "keys" folder on the next list.
Here's the direct link: http://www.netzagent.com/freetv/key/keys/SoftCam.Key

This is spectacular news 2Old.

Have you tried it. Does it work. I'm having trouble with it 'cos its all in German.

Do you know if the 'SoftCam' can do Via**ess or Ir**to.

If anyone has been successful, please let me know with instructions on how to run the program with the keys.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Feb-02 AT 09:49 PM (GMT)]I don't think that 2old has a PC receiver, you can cut and paste the text into http://translator.go.com/ to make it a little clearer.

On using the software (or trying to) i got a message in german which translated into english means "none suitable hardware"
so the software when booting up does not recognize my pentamedia card but does recognise my windows operating system. I think its a case of editing the softcam file with the latest keys or something along that lines. The german file mostly explains the addons in each version of the software. I wonder if this is just a windows thing?

Hi s*t*a*r*m**a*n

The software doesn't work with the Pentavision card, apparently it should work on the Hauppauge DVB (Not Nova), Technotrend or Siemens. It should certainly work with Windows, but again which versions I'm unable to test as like you I have the PentaVision.

I've tried those translaters and it makes more sense now. I tried it yesterday, with the SoftKey file, but I dont think it's as straight forward as that.

The German translated to ' You still need a CAM and Valid Smartcard'

There is no option anywhere to enter the key codes either.

which suggests there is no softcam after all. The only thing I found it could do was watch FTA TV. Do logging of I*deto, S*ca, and Vi*ccess. And yo can see live hex codes, thats it.

Unless someone knows differently, I dont think this has CI and CAM emulation.

Started playing with it last night. My hauppauge card is seen by the software no problem. you mustn't forget to add the extra ".dll" files for logging and softcam. But no picture yet...even on FTA. When I have FTA channels working I will then add the keys and see what happens..

Great news Genie, must confess that I was doubtful at first whether it would work, might be nice if you could do a short "Modus Operandi" for others who are still struggling.

Ok, I've been playing around with it for a couple of days now (Multidec that is!!!), and despite not knowing any German and using online translation tools, I've figured it out.

First you need to get Multidec80 and softcam.dll and soft_cam.key

Make sure the dll and key is in the same directory as MD

Run MD and set up the DiSeqC in the LNB settings if you have more than 1 lnb.

You should notice a new Soft CI menu on the far right.

Do a channel scan for each lnb, but make sure you set up only basic symbol rates, otherwise it takes a dogs age to scan.

when channels are stored, go to the Kannalliste option (Channel list)

Double click on an encrypted channel and then double click on one of the crypt methods , i.e. Seca. Click PMT and Einstellen. If it doesnt work click on the next crypt down and click Einstellen again.

bobs you uncle, youve done it. You'll need to do it for each channel, which is a pain, so if anyone has a better way please tell me.

At the moment only Se*a/Beta and I**eto. I think they must be working on Via**ess and Nag*a.

Yes, hotbird is fine. You can get the keys in the soft_cam.key file

You can get latest keys from anywhere and enter them manualy too.

If you read the first post on this thread, that should lead you in the right direction.

In light of this recent success in getting the multidec to work is there any way to get it to support the pentamedia cards??
Does anyone know of a file update or something to add support for other cards?

trust me to buy the one it doesnt appear to work with :(
