Hello,

Does a satellite receiver have to be Diseqc enabled to accept a feed from a multiswitch with quatro LNB? I am trying to feed 16 Scientific Atlanta D9234 receivers from one 3m dish. I was looking at the Invacom QTH-031 Quatro LNB and Spaun SMS61602NF Multiswitch. See the attached PDF for a wiring diagram. Thanks.

The receiver requires the ability to control a universal LNB, 13/18v voltage switching for polarity and 22khz tone switching for high and low band.

If you just need it for AFN you should be OK, bearing in mind the D9234 only has the capability to switch H/V (13/18V).
As the receiver has no 22kHz switching, transponders in the high band will be inaccessible.

Can the Local Oscilator setting in the receiver be changed to match the quattro LNB?

Yes Rolf, it has that capability (in the spirit of furthering my interest in all things satellite I bought one a while ago, but it's not particularly suitable for general use).

I used a Global Gen22 to squirt a 22kHz signal to the universal LNB.

For the record, my receiver's the North American model 803-302 shown in the accompanying PDF.

There are twelve variations of the D9234 - some have a very basic rear panel configuration.

The 803-304 has the features most likely to be of interest to UK users - if you can find one. Various models appear on ebay occasionally.

All this is academic though in this day and age of Dreamboxes etc. Even if you found one with the ISE chip authorised to receive AFN, the novelty would probably wear off in time (unless the PowerVu system in general becomes hacked, but don't hold your breath...)
