It looks as though speculation that Rupert Murdoch’s younger son James will soon run Sky could be on the mark.
A story in the News Corp owned Times yesterday appeared to confirm Sky’s board has been asked to support James’s appointment when incumbent Tony Ball’s contract runs out next May. Given the speculation it seems likely the replacement could occur long before then.
Rupert Murdoch has made no secret in recent years of his dynastic ambitions for News Corp. James currently runs the Asian TV business Star, while older brother Lachlan heads the New York Post. Murdoch’s daughter Elizabeth had a spell as MD of Networks at Sky a few years ago.
