Hey, likvid, looking at your fibo, could you tell if the subreflector has an offset shape or "normal" parabola (like a prime focus) shape? I'm wondering if i could diy a dual offset subreflector out of something to convert, lets say, a normal offset dish.
(i don't have mine under my nose right now)
cheers!

The main dish is sort of Offset like in shape but you can never modify a Offset dish to a gregorian dish, they both need to be in exact phase to work.

That's why Gregorian dishes need to be perfect in shape so they phase exactly.

i ment the subreflector's shape, not the main one.
But why the heck couldn't I? Why in the world couldn't i experiment and manage to find the "exact phase"??
:D

I think you will like the 1224 on your 'Fibo'. Converted my '120cm Fibo' a couple of months ago, very pleased with result.
Very heavy and a bit noisy, but i dont have close neighbours. :)

Got the EL version but decided not to fit the jack, so if anybody is looking to convert their 1224 to EL I have it still in it's box.

Are you driving it with a Jaeger V-BOX2?

Not using my 'Relook' at the moment, I bought a 'Humax HD' , not got round to reinstalling it yet, but looks much more interesting now, with 'enigma' :)

UPDATE:

I have finished the SMR1224 installation today, it took about 15 minutes to get the mount maximized on the arc.

I had to modify the Channel Master adapter plate from Jaeger that came with the unit, no big deal, you have to drill 4 M10 holes in the plate with dimension 116x60mm, also i had to cut 200mm from the pole as the motor made the dish come up very high.:)

Right now i am finishing the cabling and strapping it to the mount, i will post picture either today or tomorrow.

All i can say i am very satisified with the mount, it's very stable and solid and to some beleif the motor does not make more noise than my old Moteck SG2100A i had. :-thumbup

It looks much more professional now with the Jaeger mount.

Here is my 1.2 Greg on a 1224 with the inclined orbit jack.
I used the original flange plates from the crap fibo motor and adapted them to the 1224

Hi Likvid
I was pleased with how solid everything felt with my 120cm dish, I would imagine that with a 90cm dish it would feel rock solid, is this your impression :)
