Whoops!

Presumably proper cooking would mitigate the risk.

Edit: Yep. Confirmed by Google, so it must be true .....

No frozen sprouts on the list, and did anyone else notice there was no Farmfoods branded stuff? Must be a different supplier for their stuff obviously.

Couldn't agree more. There's a strange taste or texture about most frozen vegetables.

When I was young, we didn't have a 'fridge. Nor did most people then. Daily shopping, flypapers to protect the perishables in the larder. First saw a 'fridge at my aunt's, and a freezer was a little compartment inside it, which had a packet of peas and a little tray of ice cubes inside. Exotic :D

For many years my father's mother didn't have a fridge. Instead she kept milk and other perishables in a food safe which was just a standalone wooden cupboard with walls made of perforated zinc.

The safe was kept in the coolest part of the larder. Milk was bought daily (of course!) and would usually last until deliveries the next morning. Fruit and veg were a daily or every-other-day visit to the shops.

I don't know what the coal was for (luck?) but I sometimes pop a head of broccoli into a glass of water to restore it.

Pretty much how our larder was, kept cool with airbricks in outer wall.

Milk -my mother kept a pint cool by placing it in the outside water main stop valve chamber :-rofl2

First pro job was in a test lab with SFA ventilation and so got very hot in Summer. Kept a bottle of squash cool by puting it in the aircon vent of the small screened room :D
