I doubt very much that ship has the required draught for recovery so close to land.

My father was in what was classified as 'wreck dispersal' which was mainly throwing as much ordnance as required to get rid.

^^^ The tanker, just needed som touchup paint. Lucky the tanker was not damaged\no leaks, inside this long fjordlike stretch would have been a maximajor eco disaster.

btw, took a short trip out in the area (got my cottage 15 km away) to see if one could have a look, but was stopped by military police before getting close. Latest news is it has not moved further, but there is constant possibilty it may slide off, and the remnants of wiring (immense tension) that have survived pose a terrible risk for any salvage attempts if (when) they snap cutting everyone working nearby into breadslices.

The securing, emerges this company > Ardent – Global Marine Services was contacted for a quote but was "too expensive", so they chose a local, lowprice solution, operating with an old carferry and who hired in subcontractors with zero expertise in salvaging
Ardent later communicated they would "never ever" have used the securing method put in place.

Yes, cables rather than chains, though I suppose in the spur of the moment to tie it to a bit of land was better than nothing. There is good footage in the following link showing the tugs pushing the frigate further up the shoreline before nightfall.

Slik var de dramatiske minuttene da KNM «Helge Ingstad» krasjet i «Sola TS»

The AIS timeline, and some detail on the crew within the comments, but we won't go there.

Gulliver can lift 4000tonnes though, how much broke/fell off the frigate in the collision, or did you get on board with spanners ?

There's a 2nd craneboat on it's way as well, and as it's not any longer a Norwegian led operation it will surely succeed :O)
And yes, it's lighter now as I went there this night with my rowingboat, no problem, all the guards were occupied playing with their phones. So got a dozen of these in my garden > Naval Strike Missile - Wikipedia

Almost certain shes a write off. Seeing how little was left above water all the machinery & electronics would have to be stripped out & condemned. Its probably cheaper to build a new one than do a total strip & refit
I had thought as much, plus some media outlets are suggesting there is an ultimate 'saving' on the lifetime of the boat , what with the Norwegian Navy now only 80% frigateworthy. :confused

Both cranes ready, soon to move to the sinking zone and start the difficult job. Perfect weather a big bonus.

Hello, the cranes are at an harbour a few km away, preparing for the job. Will move to the sinking zone soon, ftm there are ROV's at work to (try to) empty the oiltanks etc before the lifting attempt can start.

Btw, turns out they had a visiting US officer on the bridge at time of collision. He got a great demonstration of Norwegian naval capabilities and know-how, and aknowledged the perfect application of the secret weapon: inflicting death from laughter to any ennemy.

I mentioned his presence earlier, if he really was on the bridge perhaps it is some sort of curse following US personnel around.

Has anyone asked the question why nobody saw the front of a tanker bearing down on them, Sola is about 150' wide at the bow.
