Need a new pole

Can anyone tell me where i can buy a 3metre length of pole to mount a satellite dish, my pole snapped in the high winds and a new 1 is required. i am located in the north west but do travel a little.

Sorry but it's not the sort of thing satellite hobbyists keep in their shed. Try your local scrap yard, phoar now that was a good day out once upon a time, now nobody bothers going to a scrap yard.

Think of it as metal pipe ( iow plumbing or iron works ). On a previous installation I had and was concerned about the winds, I poured a bucket of runny concrete into the pipe once it was set in the ground. Difficult to snap after that.

Try fleabay. Or a steel stockholder - a 3m length of 40mm pipe won't cost very much.

As per Analogue's post, I got mine from a local scaffolder, I just rung a few up from the yellow pages until I found one that would sell me a short length.

I paid a quid a foot. So a five foot length was only a fiver, cash in hand.:)

Try a local sign making company will use steel for erecting there signs. I was lucky enough to get a 3inch by 8 foot off cut for a few quid.

i went to my local council
was told to try the highways dept.(they deal with the road signs)
when arriving there the fellow i dealt with knew me (hadn't seen him for 20years)
got a 3" dia 6foot pole for free:)
