I'm fed up paying sky £20.00 month just for watching mainly the hisory and discovery chanels. I am going to upgrade to multi-sat viewing. Can anyone tell me if the above chanels are free or will I still have to pay a subsciption. Any help most welcome.

The History channel is on the VIASAT bouquet (Sirius 5E) and the main Discovery Channel on Canal Digital Netherlands (Astra 19.2E).
Some of the Discovery variants can be seen on Cyfra + Poland, but all dubbed into Polish. They are all encrypted, Viaccess (Sirius) and the others SECA.
A ggod link is www.lyngsat.com
which gives frequencies and encryption used

mac2008,
Thanks for the information.
The better half? will let me get a digital system as long as she can watch those programmes, so it looks like I'm o.k.
Happy New Year.

My Satellite Setup
A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The £240 you will save in the first year will get you a dish big enough to get the channels on 5E

Not sure where you live but a 1.6m should be suitable for both beams from Sirius in S England

Then you need the cam and a card
