i had my DB installed last weekend, and couldnt get any channels :(
so after a bit of advice of you guys i decided to flash with an image... i went for hydra lucien and everything seemed to work OK. I did make a note of all the motor settings before hand, and put them all back in after flashing?

my dish is now pointing to East?? about 5 Degrees i think..... and its stuck!

no matter what setting i use it wont move, gotoXX or motor power?

If you go to motor setup and then GoTo XX set 1 deg West (Thor) then blue button (next page) check Thor is selected and move to the bottom option.

By pressing the left and right buttons the motor should move.

If it doesn't move using this check that the DiSEqC has power - mine has a green LED visible - If it is any other colour you have a problem getting power to the motor.

The GoTo XX functions is not reliable on most images i have tried.

May I add to that: Try a reboot, sometimes that helps. As with all the images a reboot can do wonders....

I don't think a flash reboot will lose any motor satellite setting?

It didn't on my many flash reboots with the same image - also a factory reset didn't delete them had to do it manually.

Is that correct T_G?

well ive been tinkering ive noticed it lock up a few times....

how do i re boot, daft question i know.... surely its not just a case of switchin it off then on again..... cos ive done that, in another post Zanders said..

"Power down the DB - unplug the mains cable for 30secs.
Plug in the mains cable and hold in the channel up button at the same time.

after a few seconds you will see flash erase displayed on screen - the box will now act as new so you will have to key in the standard setting like country and time zone etc, multisat etc."

should i do that??

You can do a reboot by holding all three buttons in - like the three fingered salute on the PC.

Have you tried adjusting the dish left and right in the setup area?

Could be a dodgy image.

You could go up a ladder and check the motor is still working using its buttons.

Could the image be full and not allowing any changes to be saved - long shot!

I would use a null modem cable and put the 1.08 image back on and see if the motor moves with that. This will also clear any old settings that have ended up stuck in some corner of the memory.

Then if that works try loading your Hydra again.

i dont beleive this... i think i found the problem!!!

i havent got a ladder yet... waiting for a friend to bring one...but

looking at it in the light for once :) the cable is stretched from the pole to the motor, as the dish as moved round the wire has got caught on the bolts.. and probably broke the connection.

when the ladder comes i will make the connection good and position the wire so it doesnt happen again... will post after and let you know if its solved the problem ( i think it will )

Doooooo I thought you had eliminated that possibility.....! I had the same just when I put up my first motor, and it happened in the night after turning to 42 east that it stopped working. I tried to see what is happening, but in the morning I saw that the bolts ripped out the cable, just like yours :D

Lol-I remember in pre-satellite days using an aerial rotator for TV DXing which turned almost 360 Deg. and not leaving enough slack in the coax. Result: 30ft.pole plus guywires had to be dismantled to replace cable.
