First post folks...

My neighbour and I share a chimney and they have strapped an aeriea to it on their side but facing and over hanging my my roof. The pigeons have taken a liking to it and my roof in that area is now not so pretty. My loft room window is also situated very near and I have had to clean mess a few times.

What are my right in this scenario... My neighbours are not too bright and it took them 2 years to cut down a over hanging tree so I would rather thing were not in their slow hands.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kind regards all

Well it's pretty common for this to happen, given the length of aerials compared to the width of most chimneys, not really sure how the law stands on it though. If you are not in a fringe reception area, he could change it for a BB Grid antenna, it sits vertically above the mast.

Maybe you could peruade your neighbour to pay for some anti-pigeon spikes to attach to the aerial-

With a tree, I believe you are entitled to chop the bits off yourself and return the clippings,I don' t suppose this would apply to TV aerials as well though. :-rofl2

Thanks Robbo for the info.:)
We had pigeons mess (not aerials) from neighbouring building for years and they finally got a specialist to deal with it.
I like this idea for the aerials and it should solve the o/p problem.
The question is who is going to pay for it and for the installation. Perhaps 50/50?

These spikey things are pretty common place in shopping centres etc, I don't suppose people entering shops would appreciate being crapped on as they entered.:-rofl2

if there aerial is over hanging your air space then you can ask them to move it on to there space and not yours
a couple of years ago i fitted a aerial useing a lashing kit around the chimney stack and that was a joint chimney
a couple of weeks later i received a letter from there next door neabour telling me as the lashing wire was on there side of the chimney as well i would have to resite the aerial some where else as they did not want the lashing wire around there side of the stack and if it was not removed in so many days they would take leagal action to get it removed at my exspence
your property is yours and any thing overhanging it with out your permision is againt the law
yes it sounds petty but that is the law

years ago the tellyphone company fitted a phone line next door to me and the line went straight acrose my front yard and in the summer the birds used to sit on the line and crap all over my wifes car so we phoned them up and told them if they would move the line it was moves a couple of days latter
