Whilst Christina is being tweaked I thought I'd also fit the Triax curved multimount to my 1.25 Gibby ..
Previously only the ku and Ka band lnbs where mounted on Neil ..but I figured ..what the hell..give it a go.
So the config you can see in the photo..
C band lnb not at the focus ..and using a conical feed with the outer ring removed to allow it to get closer to focus..as it's being used offset.
Also using a T plate as imo this has greater capture potential..
Pointed at 10 East ..cos this one is NOT easy.
But without any tweaking and using the F15 known for its ability to lock weaker signals.
3M monde was locked.
Not much chance of anything else as this is the strongest at my location.
Still ..the point is ..it can be done on a dish smaller than Christina...
A lot smaller.
Never give up and happy Cbanding

nice one VS it shows you that you can receive these channels on a smaller dish,i got quite a few on the old fortec star 1.2cm dish.

Very nice VS! I never managed anything on 10E on my Fibo when I had a C band LNB on. Will try to venture into the world on the Channel Master 1.2m in a few months.

Nice catch! As speaking on 10E, are you getting any signal from 3707L (Capo Verde)? I mean with bigger dish off course. Never got anything from that freq. Others give different signal strenght and these 3 around 3839R are strong 24/7. 3735R mostly watchable, 3746R during evenings ok, 3762R sometimes locking and 3782R some signal once a month about. But never anything from TCV Int. Is it maybe polarisation (L) weaker here or low sr (1000)?

Same here 3707L is a no go for me whereas I can lock everything else either 24/7 or Time of Day depending on the Transponder in question.

..I know we have done this experiment in many forms before ..but since I have mounted the c band lnb on neil ..chances are it will be a permanent fixture ..
To this end I shall follow the arc and see what sats can be locked if at all..
So far.. and again without any treaking ..and with the lnb offset from the focus by approx 6 - 7 degrees ...I have so far managed to lock at least 1 channel from 20 East..10 East ..3 East ..1 West & 5 West..
I don't have that many spare spaces in the Gbox for all these ..so will make a document and write down the unstored positions for future reference..
Certainly I'd expect a bit more if the lnb was at focus and using a full sized feed ..and tweaked for max performance.
The point I'm trying to make is that anyone wanting to experiment with Cband on a smaller dish should not be put off..
There is some action to be had even with a 1.2m

3707 L won,t even register any signal here for me on the 1.8

Anything eastwards for the 1.2m? Or is the TT in the way just as it is for Christina?

Max Eastward movement is much like Christina ..
Approx 45 degrees until the TT gets in the way ..and a few degrees beyond that ..is clipped by a wall.
I did try for 30 East knowing I had no chance really..
and also Azerspace @46 East ..but again I suspect I'd have no chance anyway ...
I don't think the footprint covers UK ..even though it is shown to be possible on a larger dish.
Anyone in the UK managed 46 East Cband yet ?

Removed the plate this morning and carried on pushing west ..
Not tried 55 and 58 as yet ..but stopped off at 50W ..and was genuinely surprised to lock one of the AITs no problem at all ..

....For the moment at least 58W remains exclusively the domain of Christina..
I have found 58W ..but maybe due to Neils height relatively speaking ...or maybe just the lnb being offeset by a few degrees ..the best signal level is a feed around 4142V ..and insufficient for lock..
But I will keep trying ..

Ok ...so looks like I lied..
It is possible to lock NHK ..and at a very low signal level ..
Maintaining that lock is difficult ...and variable at best..
Neil is low to the Horizon at 58W ..and possibly clipping some distant trees..
but Hey ..If ya wanna try 58W on a 1.2 ..
This is the transponder to aim for.
