Thanks Llew.

Sounds a right nightmare.

So if I stick to Stephan's numbers I get an IF range of 950-1950 MHz, identical to 10700-11700 MHz in Ku band, right?

I did some more testing with a Ka A band LOF 17250. The Newsnet frequency is pre installed in E2 and I added the rest of the transponders in Dreamset, but the nino will not scan in anything, it only works when the transponder values are at Ku. My experiment worked the other day until I restart the GUI, so as this has nothing really to do with blind scan could it be a driver problem in E2?

Re: Ka LOF's - Could a 'Custom' or 'User Input' LO option be implemented instead of multiple fixed Ka LO menu inputs. This would also be useful for C band lnb's that use LO of 5.75 / 5.76 or higher.

That's just it John, I was using that option. So if the receiver won't scan them in with the user settings this begs the question whether modifications to blind scan would actually work?

No, because then the closed source binary would need to understand all those LNBs, or the arithmetic for one would not be the same as the arithmetic for another.

@scopus, how did you enter your LNB details? Please provide screen grabs.

In the tuner config screen I set it to 'user defined' then entered 17250 in the low, high and threshold and set the tone to off. At work so cannot send a screenshot at the moment, will do later...

@heuvos see post 115 in this thread, I had tone 'on' in that grab but it made no difference.

Well Huevos, if the Ka LNBs are outputting that IF, then I suppose it's a question of adapting the E2 image or software to represent the four Ka Bands to work within that IF range, much as it does for KU. Sounds simple I suppose, but then I know nothing about writing image software.

My Dreambox 8000 is similar in its LNB configuration, in that I have to use the User Defined option like scopus does to set the different Ka LOFs for a given satellite range. .

Does the Dreambox scan anything in with the user define setting Llew?

Yes scopus. I'll set up a Ka band satellite in User Config and display the result here in due course.

Thanks Llew. Looks like Dream sorted that then. Newsnet is in the sat XML file in E2 but set the correct LOF and I get 0 channels found on a manual scan..

Stefan if you have no signal with the Ka setup but it works with the Ku setup it must be a configuration thing because the receiver listens on exactly the same IFs as in Ku mode.

LOFs for the KA band.
these are:
Ka (A) 18.2-19.2 LOF 17250
Ka (b) 19.2-20.2 LOF 18250
Ka (C) 20.2-21.2 LOF 19250
Ka (D) 21.2-22.2 LOF 20250
In Europe it is these LOF which are used in 90% of the cases.
Of course, there are always special cases (for example in Band C, expanded band C 4200/4700).
but it is these LOFs that are most often needed.

I have the signal, the frequencies are well found with the blindscan, but despite the change of LOF that is given by the user, the receiver automatically returns to the KU band (it refuses to work with the KA values), and the KA band frequencies are shown with KU band values. The receiver works with C band frequencies, so I think it's just a lack of pre-programmed data.

Coded it now and tested with a Ku LNB on 28 east using bogus values in the tuner setup.

Hallo Huevos,

Thank you so much .:)
I think you have found the solution, it's great. :-clap
By cons I do not know at all how to use the change you specify in github.
Will this improvement soon be in a new version of Openvix?

Excellent work!. I need to look at this now with my Ka LNB. I assume it is a plugin overwrite via FTP?

I would have thought git pull, but I've only used that for e.g. v4lupdatelee's DVB program.

Or, if you don't have git installed, copy/paste it off the web: after loading up the above github page showing the diffs, click on view, then raw and you'll have the full code with that latest commit ready to c&p into a file.

I'm still learning with this stuff..using that program you mention Llew, does that then compile the plug in from Heuvos's code??
