I can say the Nino Pro has exceptional blindscan for American Satellites! With SatDreamGr image installed, the Nino Pro can find and process low symbol rates around 800, and it finds transponders that are spaced 2 MHz apart.

Technically, there are several SatDreamGr Image versions. I am using SatDreamGr 6 dated 10-28 with latest online updates.

As far as we are aware all the images use the same blindscan function. So SatDreamGR, OpenATV available now. OpenViX due to be released this week. OpenPLi coming soon.

The images are not the same right now.
All the images should have the same blindscan bin file in usr/bin, but SatDreamGr made modifications in other area to allow for the scanning of transponders 2 MHz apart. As it is now, transponders less than 4MHz apart will not be scanned in the other images. The transponders may be found in blindscan with the other images, but the transponders that are close together will be removed when Service scan starts. Maybe in time, the others will adopt the changes SatDreamGr made. This change effects all receivers. Not just the Nino Pro.

I do not have any electronic equipment that tests tuner sensitivity.
The tuner is sensitive or it would not return good blindscans with low symbol rates.

Do you have a link to your git where this change was made?

I did not do the git, so I do not have a link. Should be easy to find though. When a Normal blindscan is complete, the list of transponders found in the scan is sent to Service scan for processing. More or Less, Service scan deletes what it thinks are duplicate transponders from the list and scans the rest. OpenATV images consider anything closer than 4MHz to be duplicates, so those transponders are deleted from the scan list.

Set the Service scan to show the counts of the transponders in the list, and this problem is easy to see (see screencaps).
OpenATV also takes considerably longer to complete the scan ( see screencaps).

This particular problem applies to all receivers with blindscan. Years ago, we probably needed 4 MHz spacing because our hardware was not as good as it is today. But a 4 MHz spacing with the new receivers really hurts the capability or potential.

OpenATV scanned 14 out of 17 transponders while SatDreamGr scanned 16 out of 17. Transponder 3889 was deleted because of transponder 3888 ( 1 MHz apart).

@ world of sat.

Please, Could you test the sensitivity of the Tuner in comparison with octagon similar models.
Thanks

@el bandido you are mistaken about how you think this works. And I know because I wrote that code. If 2 transponders are found, 1 MHz apart and they are not in satellites.xml they will both be saved. The problem occurs on low symbol rate transponders when (and only when) there is already an entry of that transponder in satellites.xml.

Easiest way round the problem would be to use the symbol rate as the sync distance for low symbol rate transponders. If you want to test that I can share some code with you.

Which Octagon models? Only Enigma2 based Octagon with blindscan in that price range is the SF8008. The Octagon has a higher spec processor and is 4K capable, with fast kodi and stalker. But the OS Nino Pro has better blindscan hardware and can even scan MIS/PLS codes.

I know, but to me sensitivity is the most important features ( Astra 28 with my 150 disk) and I wanted to upgrade from openbox sx4. You can compare to sf4008 4k or sx88+ I have and I know their performances.

Thanks

It seems that the SatDreamGr image is the image of choice at the moment for small step blind scanning? An Octagon SF8008 loaded with the SatDreamGr image looks to be a good configuration if 4K is required, otherwise the Edison Nino Pro would be the choice if blind scan were the main factor?
