@scopus I will test it and see how it runs. Maybe compare some scan results of both images. The updates Huevos has provided will help!

Does it contain the blind scan fix that Satdream implemented?
The Satdream patch is nothing to do with the plugin. It is in scan.cpp in enigma.

The Satdream patch to scan.cpp and the patch to the plugin will both be in that OpenViX image as it was built in the last few hours.

As you can tell, not good with things E2, but I'm learning....Thanks for the info!

Actually I forgot to push the scan.cpp patch, so it will be in the next build.

I have had a little bit of time to run the OpenVix image. I find the performance of the scans and resolving transponders to be about equal between SatDreamGr and OpenVix images. I think any image that allows you to watch tv on the channels you want is a good image, and I appreciate ALL of the work that is put into making the different images and the Skins.

Attached are two screencaps showing a blindscan of 113W C band. This satellite has a variety of transponders, but most are small symbol rates with several being 2000 or less. This is a very good satellite for testing the capabilities of fta equipment. The Nino Pro loaded with OpenVix image found 40 transponders on this satellite. The total scan time was around 6 minutes which means that a transponder was found and processed about every 9 seconds on average. This is very good for this satellite!

I agree, I also have been testing, and a scan of 40W C Band the OpenVix gave me another 6 transponders over the Satdream, I also could not install IPK files off a USB with Satdream but OpenVix is fine.

The only thing that can explain this are the changes in the tolerance setting I made yesterday to the plugin .

Good morning
On this satellite there are often feeds, it can also explain the difference.
To be certain of the best result we would have to compare the list of transponders between the two images.

No feeds found with the extra transponders, but some come in better at night when I did the scan so that also could explain it. Think I will compare with the SF8008 and see..

SatDreamGr has a slight transponder advantage right now only because the 2 MHz spacing is not in OpenVix yet. This advantage disappears in the next OpenVix update. Other than closed spaced transponders in MHz, both images should return the same transponder count on scans.

They did indeed return the same transponder count on 40W C band, or rather the SF8008 with Open ATV and the Nino with Openvix did..
The Nino is faster by 10 seconds, the channel count is different though.....OS Nino result.jpgOS Nino scan.jpgSF800 scan result.jpgSF8008 40W.jpg

Depends if you need 4K, but I would say the Nino has slight edge, looking at the SNR reading for Newsnet..Certainly good on the Ka feeds is the Nino. Need to test further really.OS Nino.jpgSF8008.jpg

But the result of the Edision OS nino pro is much more precise in its data (DVB-s2 is indicated as well as the MIS 171) a1-vert.jpg
the 8008 does not indicate anything.

Those differences in "detail" on 40W C-band likely simply reflect the same detail stored (or not) in each box's satellites.xml file, inserted into the scan results by the syncWithKnownTransponders() function.

The octagon-blindscan binary in the sf8008 for sure doesn't return any such details: only ever frequency & symbol rate. Anything else you see has been "faked" by the match to a known TP in satellites.xml - at least that's how I understand it.

The El Nino is indicating Left circular polarised signals as Horizontal linear polarised signals, this is not accurate. The SF8008 correctly recognises the circular polarity. Is this issue a setting in the satellites.xml file or some other configuration setting? The El Nino needs to correctly report circular and linear polarity before it can be considered precise.

It actually says both: L and R and V and H.
It would have been necessary before completely removing the satellites.xml of "ninoPro "to know what it indicates of itselfa1.jpg

Definitely no precision from El Nino if it is reporting both L/R and H/V from 40.5W. C band from that satellite is all L/R.
