Hi!
Yesterday discovered in one of the SAT-shops new product (took picture by handy). This is Ku band LNB for PFA. Dos somebody tried that? It is little bit pricy, so I do not want want just spend money and get "0" result. Although I am satisfied with universal LNB on my 150cm PFA I am still looking for one which will show better results.

I was under the impression that you could simply get a Ku-band feedhorn and attach any C120 LNB to that...?

i did think about that, but problem is that I do not have Ku-band feedhorn, so, anyway need to buy something. But this GI-209P seems to be new product and maybe it is good as well. I just called to that shop and they agreed to give 33% discount, so final price for me will be about 20 bucks.

Well, that's cheaper than any C120 LNB around here so it's a good deal.

Something tells me I should go to Latvia to buy stuff on the cheap there....

20 bucks for LNB that is still expensive! I have got some SHARP LNBs for 5 bucks each and 1/4 diseqs 1 EUR per piece, that is cheap.

P.S. And you are welcome to come, will drink some cheap (but good) beer together.

Interesting stuff Rima, I'm going to need a new Ku feed for my PFA so will look forward to your report on it. What other LNBs do you have to compare it too? The only C120 I have is the Inverto.

Other LNB is no-name (do not remember) TWIN without any feedhorn which I am using now on my 1,5m PF. Will take some measurements on different sats and on different frequencies and than compare to performance of this new LNB. But not promising to do it very soon.

OK, in reality, my trial item has name GT-T40 Twin, price about 20 bucks. So, to compare this LNB to Single Prime Focus LNBF GI-209P I am gonna make spread sheet of all satellites with several frequencies. Will try to pick some from low and high and as well H and V polarization. Or there can be another method to compare LNBs?

Continuing thinking how to compare LNBs: Picked up that GI-209P and ready to install it on 1,5 PFA. I also finished spreadsheet of sats and frequencies, there are 69 different frequencies from 30 sats. My original plan was to go thru all those frequencies and measure signal strength . But there is question how to define signal level if it jumping up and down? This is more applicable to far-East and far-West satellites (sats with low elevation). For example on my East-more satellite 90*E on 10995 V 4285 3/4 signal changes from 8,7 till 10,6. Of course I can try to measure minimums and maximums and then try to get average. Is there some kind of program or plagin to such measurements automatically? This process is taking time and after changing LNB weather conditions can change and comparison will not be perfect. After comparison of LNBs I would like to not just say that LNB #1 is simply performs better than LNB #2, but, if possible to say LNB#1 is performing 20% better than LNB#2. I do not know is it possible at all.

the SHARP LNB in Spain costs 20 euros very very expensive!:mad:
I bought and tested the SHARP LNB,but total disappointment :-ohcrap:-ohcrap
I found in LIDL lnb and that cost 5 euro the same performs with SHARP LNBs of course that must be paid brand name

Would be interesting to see how did you compare performance of those 2 LNBs. I think that for most common satellites in most of the cases it really dos not matter what kind of LNB is used and that is because signals from those sats are very strong. Another case is fringe reception of weak signals then slight difference in LNB's performance is very important.

Hi!
To say in two words: for me GI-209P is better than the old LNB. I did not record all 70 frequencies, but I see good results. Here is only some sample on 28,2*E. In green color min and max of old LNB, and in yellow min and max of GI-209P. Measurements where taken on different dates, in more or less similar weather conditions, and antenna was also changed (that was 1,5 PFA before and changed it to another 1,5 PFA). So, I think this is good LNB.
I posted more pictures in pictures section.
