Yes, although setting a motorised dish up can be a little tricky, and is probably not advised for the vary first project for a complete novice.

Having said that - if you want to have a go, there will be plenty of folks to give you help & advice here on the forum!

After a while it closed (wasn't part of S*y) I have a video of the last night broadcast - it was then bought over by the French and started again.
Wasn't it called something like Supersport in its first incarnation?

Not a follower of sport so could very well be wrong here.

I'd thought that a motorised dish would have been easier to set up,whats the difference in installation+setup??

Well obviously you have not read many of the threads here where people do have problems. In general it is because:-
1. People are trying to assemble and operate equipment they are unfamiliar with.
2.Trying to lock onto and track an arc of satellites in the sky which they unable to see.
3. Using equipment that may or may not be assembled perfectly as in the case of the pole needing to be perfectly vertical in all planes, which in itself is not that easy to achieve.
4 . Add to that not selecting the due south satellite correctly thus not transcribing the exact arc of the Clarke curve
5. On top of which receiver problems i.e transponder frequency SR rates and FEC not set correctly it all in all adds up to a lot of variables and you only need to mess up on one and you will have disappointing results.

Having said that there are plenty of people here who can get you back on track.:-thumbup

go for the motorised option, you'll most likely end up with it anyways.Theres some good not so expensive motors,Motek is good.if your going for the motor idea then i would recommend a dish in the 80-110cm range.Triax88cm would be a good choice :-).Once installed you should have a lot of fun exploring what channels you can receive.GOOD LUCK!!

So,from what i've gathered, you get the dish somewhere near right then let the reciever do the rest, providing the receiver has the ability to move the dish. The one i want to buy is the Technomate 1500 which has this function
