New receiver technomate tm-5402 hd or no?

Technomate tm-5402 hd is it still worth buy looking for another receiver to scan with not interested in changing the skins on receivers etc just something to scan and store is the technomate tm-5402 still a good buy or should I be looking elsewhere , Thanks

It's a good sensitive receiver but the blindscan is a bit slow. It won't decode any UHD channels, multi stream channels or the few DVB S2x channels on 33 east
But for half the price and with UHD and MS capabilities you should buy the excellent Octagon SX88+

The TM? - no. It just drops the HEVC tv channels in the radio list as it cant handle the video codec.

Its a decent enough basic box but the software is flawed (it insists on loading dozens of spurious transponders that havent been in use for donkeys years on certain satellites) and its dated now. However the tuner is quite sensitive and it gives a pretty good picture. Its easy as anything to set up though :)

SX88+ is more up to date with what is being broadcast today with regular software updates by Octagon :Y

The TM5402HD is disappointing due to lack of software updates & TM never corrected the the software errors where the receiver adds non-existent transponders the data base ends up in a mess:eek:
Also, the Blind Scan misses a lot of active transponders.
