"The living room project" So basically my Saturday was spent going to IKEA buying the Kallax unit and building said unit, The missus wanted the living room swapped about after I had the place redecorated earlier in the week after the previous weekend was spent stripping and sanding the "B@$t@rd walls" I shall now always refer to them as. I saved money by doing this as the quotes I was getting for wall papering was for just that, i.e. just papering as the walls would be prepared by myself already for the guy/guys to do. Our living room is 4 metres by 3.8 metres and by going by the rule of thumb of "3 sheets to a roll" with normal height walls the wall paper has cost me £45 & £64 for the 3 feature wall rolls & the other 5 rolls respectively. My other costs were £15 for the heaviest pair of 3 step domestic "A" frame fold outs I have ever came across and £4 odd for the larger packet of B&Q's own make "Dail" of paste. This weekend had to get the living room ready to habitat again as living in the bedroom was a hassle for eating meals ect. After letting the walls dry for 2 days & a bit I was happy that what air pocket "slugs" that had been in the paper had dried in flat and that wall was ready to be "decorated" by our safely stored TV and newly purchased unit.
I mounted the wall plate on the back of the TV then sat it up on the unit holding it straight so I could mark out where the coach bolt anchors would go in the wall. I done this by placing a bolt through the back plate and then pushing it's sharp tip into the wall thus marking the paper with a small hole to give me a drill point.
