Has anyone seen the new Sony NW-HD5 MP3 Player which was released on Wednesday?

From first impressions Sony means business with this 'big brother' to the NW-HD3.

  • Smaller and lighter than the NW-HD3 (infact the smallest 20gb player available).
  • An easily replacable battery with 30 hours playing time from a full charge. 40 hrs if you encode using ATRAC
  • An innovative rotating large backlit LCD display that moves horizontally or vertically according to the position of the player.
  • Sexy aluminium body in silver, black or red.
  • Cheaper than a 20gb iPod to boot.

Pictures and the first review from T3 Magazine are online here.

Hi 'edwelch' - thanks for the 'tech spec' on this new model. I took a look at the review and it really does look good - especially that rotating screen ! I didn't realise that it was actually on sale already. I had a look at the Amazon site and they can't confirm when its due out - just taking email addresses of people who want one. Have you got inside information ?!

Cheers - Boris B.

Amazon's website says they'll be available from 20th May. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that 'ed' - just a quick question - how does the HD5, with its 7 line screen, compare to other 20GB mp3 players, in terms of what it can display on the screen at any one time ?

Cheers - Boris B
