Hi all.
I found this forum in the hope that somebody may be able to help.
Firstly I’m a complete novice with saterlite equipment, I bought, from a well known auction site, an 80cm dish with sky lnb & tripod in the hope that I could watch sky tv in France with my sky box. I thought it would be quite easy.
It came with a Satlink ws 6906 sat finder +cable.
I sought of jened up on the basics & could point the dish in roughly the right place using an app to find the Astra saterlight.
The problem is the instructions for the sat finder are next to useless & I have scoured the internet for tutorials but I couldn’t find anything remotely useful & still don’t know how to use it properly.
Can anybody give me a quick rundown on its operation. On another point I’m asuming I can pick up other tv channels from other satalights with a suitable receiver?
Any info to point me in the right direction welcome. Preferably towards a satalightThanks

What do you want to receive ?

Are you a traveller or tied to a property ?

Which part(s) of France do you hope to get your choice of content ?

A lot of Sky channels are broadcast on the Europe KU band, so reception shouldn't be an issue.

If I understand right, it is more a sat-finetune device than a sat-FINDER.
So you'd need to do a bit of homework of knowing azimuth-direction, elevation, and skew beforehand (see: dishpointer.com), to set the 'about' direction of the satellite.
If the first satellite is the one you want (28E), then you're fine, but you'll have to know what to do when it is another satellite.
That is, start with finding out at what satellite you're aimed (see: Lijst van de satelieten in Europa te ontvangen - KingOfSat and the satellites listed there: when you click one of them you get a list of the frequencies and channels of it);
to be able to decide if you have to search right or left, up or down for 28E.

But I don't know the device myself.

So, what part(s) did you not understand of the manual? (What manual did you use/find? Give us the link!)

I'm afraid you'll have to do some studying, to get to understand it all. :):confused)
