Dear All,

Please forgive any inelegance or unintentional ignorance in this post. I am about to occupy my Italian home and was hoping very much to be able to watch the Ashes this summer. They are to be broadcast on Channel 4, I believe, so I understand I need Sky reception. A technician here told me I will need a very large dish but a post from Ameolive suggested he was receiving Ch4 with an 80cm dish. Does anyone have any advice about setting up a system, about whether, if ikt is possible I should acquire hardware here and then take it to Italy?

Thank you for any help.

Tim

Hi Tim
it depends also where in Italy you are moving to I am just outside Rome and I can receive ch 5 but no ch 4 ameolive is in Rome central and can receive ch 4 I have a 1 m dish but it has its problems so that could also be a factor. You would best be advised to buy the skybox there as here you wont find a UK box very easily as for the setup I will leave that to the experts but if you need any help (if you are in Rome or around)send me a message and i will give you my number to contact me at.

Hi Dave
yeah me too I cant get a signal unfortunately. The lnb that i am using is relatively new 0.3 I would put my money on the dish as it's had a fall and is a bit damaged but i am not in a position to change it yet as i said ch5 perfect signal i have the dish motorised for a fta box also and i have try realigning the dish no change but I am sure it must be the dish. Thanks for interest though any suggestions are welcomed.

Hi Dermot
it could be your dish, still strange you can get Ch5 ok,do you get all the other sky fta channels ok?have you had your digibox checked out with another dish?
I suppose its a bit difficult in Rome to find somebody with a dish set at 28.2.

Hi Dave

when you say the other fta i suppose you mean sky news etc.. I can receive all of them the only one I can't receive is ch 4 and of course bbc and ITV but with my dish setup I have no hope of 2D anyhow. I will try post a pic of the dish and motor I think it might help there is also a mountain in the way (a major factor that i neglected to mention oops) but mainly for the motor I wanted to ask rolf about.I attached it pointing downwards and that could be another problem. I will get snap of it with the phone this evening and see will rolf let me post it.

Dear Dermot,

Thanks very much for your reply.

I am in Umbria, lake Trasimeno. There are 80cm dishes for sale on Ebay, that I think Ameolive is using, I am wondering about getting one of those now or waiting...

Also, if the dish gets too big then you can't wall-mount it, right? The tech here said it would pull the bricks out...!

Thanks again
Tim

The card is 20 quid.

h**p://www.freesatfromsky.com

It will give you ITV / ITV2 / C4 / C5. (ITV's only assuming you can get Astra2D at your location). Order to a UK address.

Dermot, you should have no probs with channel 4 m8.
Adjust the 'skew' on your lnb to improve all the 2A North beam channels.
Using a 1.25m here in Frosinone but high signal level on Channel 4 24hrs a day.
regards
D.

HI Dennis

thanks for the information I did try to skewing but to no avail anyhow it's not so bad i really don't want to try configure it in this heat as the lnb is not so easy to get at. Below is some old pics of the sat before it was motorised as you can see it's not so easy to get at and the hill/mountain is a bit of a problem.
