I've recently bought the band A LNB from XMW and was able at times to lock Newsnet [13db at best] but no chance today. I can see they have reduced the amplitude of their signal on 18557H as compared to other signals on the H polarity. Today on the Vertical polarity there's the usual Unire TV plus a couple of feeds 18755H 4500 PISA and 18761H 5500. All three signals locked fine here.

Interesting Simon and welcome to the forum, tell us a bit more of what feed your using on the XMW and how you have it mounted on the CM 120. Pictures would be great.

I think you need a 1.8 for reliable reception of Newsnet, most of the time it is OK here except in heavy rain when it drops below lock. I have managed to get the SL3 at focus on the CM 1.8 and it made quite abit of an improvement.

Just with the Norsat Ka LNB, but it's presently on the Triax TD88, so with the overcast conditions, I get no lock on Newsnet.

OK with the SL3 LNB on the Triax 110, some breakup occasionally.

Newsnet stable with me on the CM 1.8. Measurement on the Amiko X Finder.

Thanks very much for all your replies and the warm welcome. I fully appreciate the signals for Newsnet are going to be marginal at best with my 1.2m CM dish. You'll be pleased to know this morning its coming in error free. The sky is clear blue and there's been a slight frost overnight offering the best chance to receive Newsnet. I am going to try and add some pics from my phone to answer some of your questions. When the LNB is mounted the ring on the feedhorn is pressed against the ridge of the black plastic clamp. Anywhere else sigs are weaker. The spec An shows those two signals someone was asking about to the right of Newsnet which are still there.

Hi Simon, great pictures, Newsnet is strong this morning, up to 14.5dB for me. You might catch the odd feed too, but they are usually weaker than Newsnet, even I srtuggle locking them sometimes on the 1.8.

Well done, Chris. Everything has to be dead on for catching Newsnet. So you must have your system set up right. Now you've found Newsnet, its well worth scanning 18.500H to 18.600H. On my spec an I can see other ITV feeds. If any of them reach the level of Newsnet you will be able to receive them. For me this has happened over the last two days with such clear skies. Good luck..........

Quiet this morning, maybe problems re announcement 'ITN source is down' on Newsnet screen?

@SimonE - Newsnet and associated feeds are vertically polarised.

Sorry chaps...... I've just taken the cap off the front of my XMW LNB and of course you're right ITV Newsnet et all are indeed vertically polarised. Apologies if I misled anyone.

Good info. 18556V still up at 13dB here. No other carriers at present other than that and and the usual ACM/VCM pair at 18561/18567V (apart from Penthouse @ 18366V.)

Feedhorn on my Norsat Band A LNB is from a Triax Saorsat LNB, which I find gives a better match to my dishes than the FD9000.
Llew , did you removed the frontcover of that XMW FD9000 feedhorn , is it a TRF for offset dishes ?
Can you tell me the total lenght without the cover ?
I could try to make a flange version of the TKT2 with the leftover .

Trust, the length minus endcap is 86.1mm, as shown in the drawing. Cap adds little to the total length as it fits right over the end, leaving only the thickness of the cap diaphragm (<1mm).

Not sure what you mean by TRF?

Sorry Llew , TRF is a typical German name for feedhorn for offset dish (TRichterFeed = Funnel feed )
But the drawing makes clear how it looks inside .
Running out of time today (friday) , boxing the Egis rotor for Feedsat and prepairing the leftover horns and the pvc frontplates for yours SL3K's
So no time to make a (flanged) KTK3
