My Satellite Setup

Hi all,

I have been told that it is possible to receive all football matches at 3:00 pm on the Channel Nile sport. I have done some research and am under the impression that the satellite that I need is the Nilesat 101 (7 degrees W).

What I was wondering is what satellite dish, LNB and Feed Horn will I need to receive this in Hertfordshire england. Someone else suggested that I will need an 1.8m Dish from maplins, but this doesn't come with the the LNB or feed horn.

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me what equipment I should get (preferably from maplins if possible) and how to find the satellite nilesat 101 (for nile sport, which has a freq and transponder of: 11.843 H.

Many thanks in advanced

James

Welcome to the forum,

I would avoid the large Fortec dishes mentioned. They are of poor quality and can fold in severe gales.

Lots of info on the forum regarding dish size required and Nilesat 7W.

HERTFORDSHIRE - Minimum requirement is a 1.8m top quality dish.

You can get 11.843 H with a 1.2m dish on a fine day in summer but you will lose it on a wet Saturday afternnoon in January.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies about dish size. WOuld it be possible for someone to tell me, what LNB to go for as well as the reciever that I will need to get the channels.

Also I have been doing some research and do not understand what feed horns are, do I need one of these?

If someone could pick some hardware from maplins that would be appropriate to recieve Nilesat 101 that would be great.

Thanks in advance

James

You are unlikely to find the right hardware from Maplins, have a look on ebay for 1.8m dishes, you may pick up a good quality bargain, often something on there. Large satellite dish will normally produce a couple of results.

You must also remember that the old Nilesats will be coming out of service in the next couple of years and theres a reasonable chance the coverage beams will be restricted further.

Thus you could spend a lot of money and lose the signals in a year or so!

Why not got for sky italia or c+ and you wouldnt beed a massive dish and would be less obtrusive

There is a very good reason why people ask about 7°w Showtime.

This season they are the only broadcaster that show all ten Premier League matches every weekend. Ѕky Italia is the best second choice but you only get a maximun of seven of the ten matches.

I have the 1.8m Andrews Channel Master in Weymouth Dorset and I pick up Nilesat very well. Expensive but very good quality. 11.996H is the frequency to aim for as this has showsports. Only heavy rain prevents me watching any Premier league game I wish to watch.
