I assume support has been discontinued for the TM5402 as there havent been any updated Phantom patches for over a year now?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Patch 146(p) was well over a year from memory, I don't think it was 'official' either.

Support by 3rd party has ceased due to no finance & loss of interest by Technomate in supporting Linux & Non Linux satellite receivers for 5 months with the mini that was a total disaster & the more popular TM5402 & 6000 series for over a year for any software that actually did anything,

There were issues with the new TM5402 M3 where the data base added hundreds of non existent transponders despite several reports by me & other owners TM remained in denial that the problems existed as they were not prepared to spend any more money on sorting out the software,

Some problems with the TM5302HD & TM5502HD such as last frequency blind scanned changes polarity & the receiver goes into a loop when a low frequency is found using the 3Hz stepped scan despite the valuable feedback given no action was taken,

They did however sort out the blind scan on the TM5302HD & TM5502HD that was originally compiled by someone who had no knowledge of the active Ku band if you want to see what I mean save your current channel list then do a factory reset & go from there without adding your channel list it took me 3 months of e-mails as I could see the potential of the TM5302HD eventually the did rewrite the software over a 2 week period now we have a usable Blind Scan but it could have been so much better had the original software been written by someone with more knowledge of the Ku band & symbol rates in use,

But sad to say there is no support for TM receivers now except for my channel lists that is why I have moved on to the Octagon SX88 & Amiko A4K.

Shame, as the hardware is actually decent. I would have liked more support for Dr HD F15 as I still swear by it for weak signals and feeds, despite the 45000 SR bug.

Enigma2 has its place but I don't think they are suited for feed hunting.

Dr HD F15 & TM5402HD M1 are very similar receivers with excellent tuners for weak signals,

A lot more was possible with these receivers but as usual us the knowing led my the unknowing decided that Enigma2 Linux receivers was the way forward,

I do not see the sales of these Enigma 2 receivers anywhere near approaching what the non Linux receivers achieved as Joe public does not find them user friendly & invariably turns to FreeSat & FreeView nowadays for their TV viewing,

So not a good decision by the sat receiver manufactures a bit like shooting themselves in the foot to stop production of the golden egg.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Where have I seen all this from Technomate before?

->Towards the end of the sales of the TM5500 series in 2005 when I complained that the f/w was getting very out-of-date for what the h/w could handle - and this is the reply I got from Technomate in E London (the "English" was very "unique", I think)

" Hi.

Your complain is not justified as you have not mentioned what is wrong with your receiver or what do you want .
TM-5500 Series took over 3 years of hard work to make it perfect as it is now.
incline/decline and 4 positioned drive is a unique type of s/w even up to today no manufacturer has made .
also auto navigation link
ferrite/mechanical drive
toomany modes made to make this s/w perfect.
i really do not know wheat do you want except complaining.
the only reason we did not update because there was no need .
we do not update s/w if there is no reason for it.

please email me tell me what do you want.
which type of modification in this s/w can please you.
what is wrong with this s/w that 99% of end users prising it except you.

i am very confused.

Richard"

PS: After that I swore I would never buy another TM - but then I did, not expecting more of the same a year or so later!

Beats me how folk can handle complex software, where syntax and precision are all, yet can't string together two words of plain English :confused

That is Korean English as it turns out TM UK had very little input to software upgrades because the Korean software makers were not interesting due to the lack of $$$$$$$$$

BTW: the only thing that really currently bugs me about the TM5402 M3 is that, now that the channel lists are getting pretty full, it won't blindscan on sat groups like 13E & 19E because starts the scan and then drops out with the message that there is not enough transponder memory available.

Also the scenario was not ideal to get the receivers working correctly as it required someone in Europe to modify the software then see what happens & correct it not someone the other side of the World

It is a bit like trying to tune in a TV Aerial by turning up the volume on the TV when you are on the roof you will get a signal but it will be hit & miss that you get a good signal :-rofl2

That is because the M3 loads dead transponders over a period of time so I make the channel list on the TM5402HD M1 then transfer it to the M3 via a USB stick,

So to overcome your problem load my latest channel list here with virtually no dead transponders:-
TM5402HD Ch list by William-1

In the future to reduce the addition of dead transponders use the Network Search on the Astra satellites @ 28.2E & 19.2E
Where you can manually update your channel list from here News - FlySat Satellite Chart

Never do a Network search or Blind Scan with the M3 on 42 east,26 east 16 east & 7.2 west because due to the poorly compiled software you will get loads of transponders for the East beam of 42 east Middle East transponders from 26 east & Nilesat @ 7 west all are not possible to receive in the UK even with a 120 cm dish & 16 east goes mad & adds transponders in the 11700 to 12500 part of the Ku band that do not exist,

TM once tried to tell me that I was picking up Amos-5 @ 17 east after it ceased working :-rofl2

Many Thanks - have now downloaded your list and will "try" to remember to use the network search approach, where appropriate, in future.

The 5402 also insists there is a rogue tp on 3E - it keeps putting 11000H 2200 back in after Ive deleted it.

Yes the TM5402 does this that is why I do not use it for feed hunting there are loads of these software errors on various satellites.
