Is any one having trouble getting some channels like Friendly TV? I am using sky plus and an 80 CM dish. Some of the quiz channels are off and other ones like BEN. ITV and the BBC channels are fine though so it Canot be an Astra 2D problem. This is no big lost though as I never watch these channels.

No problem here and with an 80cm in Clacton you should be having no problems whatsoever with anything destined for the UK. What is you signal and quality reading on the default transponder.

You perhaps need to tweak the dish and or LNB skew, also check the cable connectors and possible obstructions. With an 80cm you generally should be seeing more signal strength than that, although these readings are not well calibrated it should still show over 75 percent..

Yes I might do that tomorrow. Will see if any of the channels go off again first.

There is another possibilty, have you got a DECT telephone, as they can affect reception at certain frequencies.

Would this bulding be blocking any of my signal? It was only bulit about 3 months ago.

It could well be partially obstructing the dish, try covering the bottom part of the dish with a piece of carboard, if it makes no difference, then it is probably being shaded.

Note that, "signal test" shows only the default transponder, not the particular channel you're watching!

Thing to do is note the particular channels that give problems, then get their transponder details from a website (www.lyngsat.com sky package, or www.satcodx.com at 28 deg east). Then, on remote: services, 4,0,1,select , installer menu comes up, select "manual tune", and enter details for those channels. You'll get a "signal test" for them, in particular look at lock and quality, which tells whether decoding is possible.

This won't directly cure anything, but does show if there's something wrong on those particular channels, despite default transponder being ok.

As Rolf says, other equipment can "blot out" some sat channels, especially if it transmits within "sat i.f." 1-2Ghz, maybe DECT phones etc.
