I think you are asking too much from a forum on your first go.

The reason there has been no constructive reply to your question is probabaly
1) Few people have the same receiver as you
2) Fewer people with the same receiver as you have looked at this forum
3) Very few people with the same receiver as you have tried the same as what you are asking

Try asking your installer first, and let us know the answer.

Yes, I have always been interested in new members, particularly as I am one myself. Unfortunately I do not own the receiver you mention and it is not a very common one.

Nobody. :D

I got the receiver from one known person who is in this field. And he gave discounted rate and all. He is poor in computers and internet. He has tried firmware upgradation through some people but in vain and in his shop I saw some receivers are lieing dead. So I cant try with him. He told me that if I do any mistake in upgrading then he cant provide the warranty for the receiver.

I want to do it for myself and I want to take a backup before doing upgradation. that's why I asked this.

thanks:)

Send it back

If a supplier has to leave it to the end user to upgrade kit without advice (and state no warranty) then the machine cannot be worth the discount you got.

Anyway I will try to upgrade it. Yesterday I found one website www.satsw.com in that I could get the latest firmware for Starsat SR-X650CI. But I am not sure whether it is exact one. That's why at first I will try to take a back-up of existing firmware using windows Hyper Terminal. If I succeed then I will let you know.

thanks:)

Tweek4444...I think you should do as CH suggested and return it for a refund. The link to satsw which you quoted doesn't show who is running that site.

The seller wont give refund. He said only he can do service, if it spoils with in the warranty period. I had arguments with him but of no use.

I will try with back-up and upgradation then I will be back with results...

thanks:)

I think the no refund says it all, you have rights in this country on goods that dont perform as they were advertised.

What is it you cannot do with the receiver with the old firmware ?
