It died a year back. :( Blue blotches all over the screen and a very soft picture. It was only when we put the new one on we realised just how bad it had got!

Well I really hate format/standard wars. It would be better if one format/standard became the main format or standard.
If NS3/NS4 is so much better maybe it should become the standard for broadcasting and DVB-S2X should become "obsolete"...

We had same things happen to BluRay / HD DVD...

So it's like a hardware DRM ?
I am not sure to answer you. As far as I know and as feedsat has explained, EBU sends some keys to the demodulators in order to be able to "unlock" the hypermux NS4 frequency. But i guess you need to be a professional so you make ebu to send you the keys :)

It's not a format war..... you are not intended to view it.

he means that in order to lock the frequency (the hypermux) you need some keys that ebu installing directly to your demodulator. Without this even if you have the BISS keys you cant do nothing , because simple you cant lock the frequency and as a result you cant download the feeds
Sounds like hardware pairing of some sort, definitely game over for us mere mortals who want to watch ebu or any decent satellite feeds.

As Dave5118 says in the post directly above yours - we are not intended to view this stuff. We will have to do without until the next technical advance opens them up again.

What exactly firmware is needed to view ns3, ns4 feeds, is there a pc card available?, or reciever?, this all seems baffling to me and I have read the thread 3 times all through, it seems some feeds are free to air so anyone can explain ?
