What exactly firmware is needed to view ns3, ns4 feeds, is there a pc card available?, or reciever?, this all seems baffling to me and I have read the thread 3 times all through, it seems some feeds are free to air so anyone can explain ?

NS3 is a system owned by NovelSat and you need to shell out plenty bags of sand to get one of their units. Thats not the end of it either, after you gone large you need to get the NS3 unit licensed by the EBU, typically as a broadcaster or serious player in the industry.

Forget it - these transmissions are not available to the general hobbyist. Even if you get an official decoder you need to get it authorised by an official provider to unlock the muxes.

I am not able to check it by myself right now, do you lock the SR with -10dB on CS ? if yes, this is not NS3/NS4
otherwise give me a frequency

don't have a demod, just like to know what happened to al the 9874sr Wimbledon feeds we used to get. All we get now in dvbs2 are poor sr7200 backups at best

Is there a test card available on the 7E Hypermux4? I need to test the ASI output from the NS4 demod with an Ericsson RX8200. Ta.

If you can demodulate the stream you can see them by yourself, I don't understand your request...

PS: there are 5 testcard at the moment and 1 infocard , all FTA

otherwise, you can run the internal pattern test mode of the NS2000 demod

The fact that you can demodulate does not mean that you can decode? Which bit don't you understand?

I think maybe your PS answers the question I asked.

Thanks for your "kind words"...

Please do me a favour, next time you have a request about NS3/4 modulation or demodulation, found another forum or contributor ! ( good luck )

Thanks for your 'helpful' response, although I'm not sure what I said to warrant such hostility. The fact remains that I am able to demodulate the mux but I cannot decode the video from the ASI, hence my request for a test card, if there is one.

I would appreciate any solid advice if anyone else can think of anything constructive. Thanks in advance.

" Which bit don't you understand? " is very aggressive and you know it , thats why he is now hostile with you . But anyway thats between you and Feedsat.

About your question , the answer is in this thread you should read everything first, but the answer is NO is not enough to have NS2000 + tandberg to download the EBU feeds . You need the DRM for the specific hypermux you want to download the feeds, from EBU it self , and I doubt you can get it if you are not TV broadcaster ...Otherwise without the DRM you can sync/lock the freq but you cant get the feeds

Thank you, although what I said has been misinterpreted - the poster said he didn't understand my simple question so it is not aggressive to ask which bit was hard to understand, but I get it, I know how forums work.....

Your second paragraph is the answer that could have been given the first time I asked the question.

Let me be clear - I have a licenced EBU NS200 with NS4 synced and locked with a 3M dish and PLL LNBs on the E7B Hypermux4. I understand the need for the DRM in the demod and then also the BISS in the decoder, hence me asking if there was a test card so that I could decode the video without needing the BISS, simply to test that my Ericsson is correctly decoding the ASI. The project I am working on has not begun yet so I do not have a complete set of parameters to prove everything is working correctly.

If this forum is a closed shop it's a shame but thanks anyway. I have read the thread.

I do not know if the FTA test cards on the 7E hypermux require the DRM or if they are DRM protected but without the BISS encryption? I think that "Feedsat" may have a DRM enabled NS2000 so FTA as described by "Feedsat" might only mean without BISS encryption but still with DRM?

An alternative test, if you have access to an ASI enabled monitor would be to try a direct connection of the ASI output from the NS2000 unit to the ASI input on the monitor for one of the FTA test cards. If you managed to receive pictures on the ASI enabled monitor but were not getting them with the RX8200 then it might indicate a menu configuration or licensing issue with the RX8200?

Similarly, there are DVB cards available for a PC that can accept an ASI input that might allow you to test the direct output from the NS2000?
