. It just so happens that what was once easily accessible to many has gotten harder and harder to obtain :(
Thats the way the hobby goes Im afraid. As satellites are replaced the wide beams disappear and get swapped for spot beams. Hobbyists have been chasing down feeds and playing cat and mouse with the broadcasters as long as Ive been in the game. Technical advances mean that at the moment the broadcasters have the upper hand. Maybe the set top builders will catch up again in a few years time who knows.....

Those top set builder will only invest for the use of standard technology,as is S2x.I don't think they will be willing to pay huge sums for a proprietary license, even if it would increase NS3/4 feeds.Only for a NS3 app you have to pay over 1000/1500 Euro.
Maybe it's premature question,of course, the rhetoric, but how many program operators are willing to buy such top set receivers?
Because the price too high for this license is a way to protect the content of such transmissions, and I say an obvious banality, precisely to protect those who bought the license.
Unfortunately the transmission technology (of any kind) is with many steps ahead(many years) of the media content, both from the market point of view, but also the perception of a regular consumer of programs. It is true, that thanks to us,hobbyists,we make these top set builder to accelerate the process of assimilation of new technologies. At least that's how I like it to be :)

Who said anything about licensing it?? 10 years ago we all thought Power Vu was more or less impregnable. NDS as well. Now a 50 quid receiver will give you at least some of the PV channels with a bit of tinkering. And you can buy receivers with gifts from big on line electronics stores quite freely.

there needs to be market for ns3/4 demods. Consumer receivers are made primarily for DTH reception, the fact it can pick up feeds is a bonus. Its not worth the Chinese box manufacturers time trying to reverse engineer the hardware as the cost vs return wouldn't be viable.
