My very early SX88 has had the issue that it won't update online for a very long time, and so, about a year or so ago, I asked here if anyone could explain the cause and help me "solve" the problem - but nobody, including Octagon Germany, responded

OTOH, so far, the SX88+ has been updating online, but I haven't tried to do that in the last few days - I aim to take another look tomorrow as to what currently "works", or does not, because I didn't install the update that was announced a few days ago since it appeared of no interest to me. "Time will tell"

Well, I've just fired up the SX88+, went to the Settings f/w update field, and it showed v1.05.50 as being available to download - so I set that update in motion, and it did then successfully download and install that update, which is what is now showing as the current installed version.

OTOH, I doubt that there has been any change in the situation for the SX88.

I think you have to PM Octagon to get the test firmware?

Tried the SX88+ again this morning currently on SW version 1.05.32
Tried to update via the internet to SW version 1.05.50. message says there is no file
I have also tried all the updates after 1.05.50 to see if there was some linking software to the next update but none will load either on-line or via USB

Can you help with this problem Octagon ?

Just downloaded v1.05.50 for the old SX88 to a USB drive via a PC, inserted the drive in a USB port, went to the Settings f/w update page -> showed V1.05.50 as being available on the drive, but got "Update Failure".

Then I realised that the filename for the above file had "mupg.part" at the end of it, and - when I put the drive back in the PC, I could see that it was far smaller than it should be for a full f/w file, and so I must have been too quick to copy the file from the PC before it had fully downloaded from the website.

However, by that time, the download had fully completed and so there was no ".part" at the end of the filename - so, copied that version to the drive and then managed to do a successful f/w upgrade on the SX88, thus it is now running v1.05.50

NEVERTHELESS, that still doesn't explain why the SX88 won't update via the internet as all I get when I try to do that is that "There is no file".

My lack of faith in Octagon to reply & offer solutions to the non-upgrading of the SX88 & SX88+ reminds me of what happened at Technomate a few years ago
So it looks like I will have to look elsewhere for my next satellite receiver

Installed 1.05.52 this morning in my SX88+. Reinstalled my backup channel list. Then tried scanning 27.5W: nothing found. Then did 'factory default' and scanned 27.5W: channel list found but no programmes working even with correct key. All still working fine on my DR.HD D15.

I have now successfully received 27W stations with 1.05.52 firmware. The CAS system has to be turned on and correct CAM mode chosen. NB you still can't use your backup channel list though as this overwrites the ability to search for channels on 27.5W.

I have now successfully received 27W stations with 1.05.52 firmware. The CAS system has to be turned on and correct CAM mode chosen. NB you still can't use your backup channel list though as this overwrites the ability to search for channels on 27.5W.

Wunderbar, and with a "bit of effort" I now see some on the Sx88+ - although "several" of the channels seem to be "blankish".

Thanks Octagon for your suggestion of using 4761. I have been using a USB stick to save my channel list and more MENU and then BACKUP & RECOVERY. Recovering my previous channel list into the SX88+ with 1.05.52 firmware works but prevents me finding those channels at 27.5W. I tried pressing 4761 and was told there's no such channel. When should I press 4761 and what should I see?? It look as though I may have to start from scratch programming the box.
