My kodi and VLC are on an adroid phone and everything is ok within the LAN, BUT if start changing channels or you try to stream it after a recording, the screen is or black either full of pixels.
This receiver (I have a clone Denys) is only weak in recordings and DLNA, the rest is very value for money.

ciao

The SX88 and the SX88+ in theory are the same box with the exception of the DD+ chip. So it should be affecting both boxes. The problem is being caused by my Video/Output settings hopefully this can be sorted soon by Octagon.

Seeing your video I do not understand why you are in 1080I60Hz.
In England as in Germany electricity is in 50Hz.
It works perfectly with 1080p50Hz.

I haven't ordered one yet, but based on the SX88 and what we know so far I'd like to know the following:

Is it identical to the Edision Primo IP S2?
How is the tuner in terms of sensitivity/lock compared to say a TM-5402 M1/2 or DR.HD F15?

As I still planning on getting 1x Non E2 Box and 1x E2 Box.

Just noticed the Amico Mini HD265, this looks very similar to the Octagon and Edision, wonder if it's the same box?

It works perfectly with 1080p50Hz.

I thought 50hz and 60hz were the refreshrate not the utility frequency(power) into the box.

Also I'm having some major issues viewing the multistream channels on 12.5w, alot of the time the channels don't work or they show the wrong channel, for example at the moment I'm viewing Spike but the channel being shown is Alpha. Turning the box off and on fixes it temporarily. These are the two big bugs I've found so far, I'll try and find some more

Problem fixed by manually scanning the multistream frequencies. The problem happened after I did a blindscan so this might be causing the problem.

Edit: Yes the blindscan messes up the multistream channels

No.
You just have to know that when you are on a satellite that has multistreams, you always have to make blindscans with Multistream, otherwise it does not take into account this particularity.
Multistream channels are not erased but they are no longer visible.

good luck

I've got an SX88+ on order, I'll report back when it arrives.

Can I ask - out of the box what software does it have on it? If it's as awful as that on the Octagon 4008 I'm wondering whether I'll be able to use Dreamboxedit or whatever it's called to inject my 4008's channel list into the SX88+. I find the 4008's menus a complete nightmare, although once set up and left alone it's a very good receiver. The Edision which I've had for a few weeks has far more intuitive software.
It's not an Enigma2 box, so will be different to the 4008, you did not mention what model Edision you have, but there is a good chance it might not be a Enigma2 box as it sounds like the menus are different and if that is the case the SX88+ will be very similar to the Edision.

Enigma2 boxes are fine if you are used to them and the settings are pretty much the same across all images as it's not manufacturer agnostic.
But for some it's not that Plug and Play.

Thanks RustySpoons. Very tactfully put I must say! Indeed not, I almost went mad during the first few days of owning the 4008. As I say, I'll report back....

The Edision I have is the one that's recently come out and does multistream.
Sounds like the Primo IP S2, if so it's the same box basically, menus will be the same (slightly different graphics) if not very similar to the SX88+

Good evening.
I have just tried out of curiosity to record the DEMO SES UHD channel on astra with the SX88Plus.
Of course it can not represent the image, we only hear the sound.
This recording is perfectly readable by a device (PC or receiver) capable of reading the UHD.
I think it's the same for the SX88.
Unlike mikeisyou I have no problem to register (USB Fat32 8Gb).

Good to see, I've seen on the Octagon forum there is alot of other people in the same situation where they can't record. I'll try and dig out another usb stick tomorrow.

The SX88+ arrived this morning and physically it's NOT the same box, because the Edision has a SCART socket and the Octagon doesn't, and the Octagon is even smaller than the Edision (and that's saying something, although in no way a criticism). The layout of the USB sockets is different too.

However, as you say the menus appear identical, and it's definitely an SX88+ as the French sound works. Seems to be fine overall, although changing channel within a transponder seems a little slower than my Octagon 4008. I'll compare that with the Edision too. It's still pretty fast though, faster than a TNTsat box or a Fransat box!

For the price both the Edision and the SX88+ are fantastic little boxes; I'd opt for the Edision if - and in one room I do need to do this- a feed to a second remote TV (in my case an old CRT) is required.

Laters: actually the top menu is sllightly differently laid out on the two boxes, but once you drill down they look identical. No real difference in channel zap speed, the sound seems to come up earlier on the Edision than on the Octagon, but there's no difference in the speed that the picture displays.
When I said the same, it's the same chipset, tuner and software :) it's kind of like a Golf and Audi A3

I personally prefer the look of the Edision and the remote.

Both seem to be great value for money as you say.

2 Firmware in one day :D What is the difference with this one?

they are two versions of the same firmware, the first is restricted (no PVR and other possibilities that are not present) and the second is complete.

I can't see why it's too detailed for here ..... we have a couple of very knowledgeable Beta-testers who have already contributed much: I'm sure they'll be able to help :)

Does anyone know of a forum dedicated to the Octagon SX88+ ?

Having downloaded that rar file given above I have absolutely no idea what to do with it, or with all the other stuff accompanying it, including Dreambox Edit, I didn't think that you could use that on this version of the Octagon.

Clearly it's too detailed a discussion to have here, just wondered if anyone knows of a non-German language home for this sort of help to a muppet like me...? Would like to get the PVR etc working but don't want to brick the box....

The official forum is here - OCTAGON SX88/ SX88+ (H.265 HEVC) / SX8 HD ONE it's in german but nothing Google translate can't help with. Lots of people are having problems with the PVR functionality/recording channels, they are very on the ball when it comes to receiving feedback and fixing problems so it should be fixed in a software update somewhere down the line.

Thanks for the link, but actually I think even with Google Translate it's just too much of an uphill struggle to find the right thread, and then get the right answer.

My advice: buy the Edision folks, it comes with everything working and no need to speak German. And buttons on the front to change channels and turn on and off. And a Scart socket which in my case is useful. And for much the same price.

I'll wait for the dust to settle and then see if any good comes out of the Octagon updates, but my fear of bricking the box outwieghs my desire to make it record, when the Edision does the job.

Happy to have been a guinea pig because I'm sure in the end someone will come up with help in English for the SX88+
Octagon have very good support on Facebook, that's if you use Facebook. They will answer any question.
Also as Lazarus said we have knowledgeable Beta-testers on this site :)
