This statement was said on JSC News

"I inform you that, following a decision of the Premier League, we will not be able to broadcast the games of the 3:00 P.M. on Saturday on Al Jazeera except one.
Al Jazeera is granted to broadcast in exceptional circumstances a game on 3:00 P.M. due to the high cost of royalties paid (Arsenal-Southampton this turn.).
Al Jazeera has decided to terminate the contract with the Premier League at the end of the 2013-14 season because there are no more the conditions of mutual respect which deserves a contract worth more than a billion dollars."

Sounds like the Prem league kicking up a fuss about UK viewers again to me

Should have stuck all their Prem channels on Nilesat 201 / Badr 6.

But wont people who can get all the games just stream it on the internet like they're doing now?

Plus theres IPTV, they will never win

Yes they will. The genie is out of the bag now.

The Prem could kill off all this chicanery about on line streaming & foreign satellite subs PLUS get a shed load of extra money simply by allowing proper 3pm coverage in the UK via Sky.

Very good point, I wonder what will happen in the situation where every broadcaster chose to show a different 3pm game to show, I am sure there's not much they can do about that.

Yes but if all the providers (Sky Italia, Polsat, JSC etc) are only allowed to show the same game then how can anyone stream the other games?
OK they can get them off the feeds - but if they made the feeds more secure, then what?

Richard Keyes just said along the lines of "other games not available on satellite for reasons beyond our control for the time being, but we are working on it for the future"

But does that mean only the goals during their only 3pm ko, or all the matches on other channels....?

Bad sound system .... security banners 2-3 times each half, covering 25% of the screen for 60 seconds ... ripped off with the upgrade only lasting until your normal subscription ends ...... only one channel for EPL (no choice) Re-broadcast games with no English commentary .............. I WILL NOT BE RE-NEWING

"The English Premier League, the country’s top football division, has requested that a number of its overseas broadcast partners limit the number of games they show as it seeks to combat piracy of its rights in the UK, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper said that pay-television broadcasters Al Jazeera Sport and Fox Sports Italia are amongst the companies that have been asked to broadcast only one match on a Saturday at 3pm in the UK, when the majority of games in the Premier League are played.
“We have become aware that live broadcasts of Premier League football intended for certain overseas territories are, in a small number of cases, being re-transmitted in the UK,” the Premier League said. “We are working with some of our international broadcast partners to address this.”
In July, Al Jazeera acquired the exclusive rights in the Middle East and North Africa to the Premier League in a three-year deal, from 2013-14 to 2015-16, with the MP & Silva agency.
The Premier League is said to have limited the number of games Al Jazeera broadcasts until the channel puts provisions in place to prevent its material being pirated. The majority of piracy in the UK is said to stem from Al Jazeera’s Premier League broadcasts, according to the report.
Currently, Al Jazeera subscription cards are being utilised by individuals and owners of bars and pubs who utilise them in generic set top boxes that can receive the Al Jazeera signal being broadcast from the Middle East on the Nilesat and Arabsat satellites.
Pirate companies are also redistributing the Al Jazeera broadcast over the internet for live streaming."

“The changes to the English Premier League will only affect Saturday 3pm kick-offs, which means that we can only show one live Saturday 3pm GMT match in each match week,” the broadcaster’s customer service centre said.

“We are still able to show all games on delay, which means that the game must not start until two hours after its original kick-off time. All other games are unaffected.”
