Picked up this positioner up off Gumtree for a fiver, sadly it is missing its remote and have no clue to who the manufacturer was.
It says AKITA on the PCB but that is it. Any ideas as to who made it so I could perhaps get a harmony to work with it.
Thanks..P1010006.JPGP1010007.JPGP1010008.JPG

I think you have the dish motor interface unit for a two part system, did a tuner come with it?

As there is a jack marked "TUNER", there may have been a separate satellite tuner that would display the menu for this unit, this may be what is missing for a remote.

"AKITA" looks to maybe be the PCB manufacture, it does not come up in my manufactures list.

No stickers on the bottom???

And the large IC chip number/manufacturer info may help, can you get a close up of that?

I had a similar postioner many years back that used the the 'tuner' port to talk to I think were Pace receivers so you could operate them from the receiver instead of the remote that came with the unit, a bit like an older version of what a Diseqc V Box does now.
You can operate them standalone too, if I had the remote!
Looks like the big chip was made by Temic??

Thanks

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Reminds me of the two-part NEC 5000 system I had in the early 90's - so it probably dates from the late 1980's.

Ahhh......Temic was bought out by Atmel years ago, no way to trace it down now.

There may be something as to a manufacture's name under the main PCB, but you would have to remove it to see. (guessing)

Thanks for the replies. Will have a look at taking the PCB out to see...
Says 'Made in Europe' on the bottom of the unit...a great help!
Certainly a beeffy unit, hardly breaks a sweat moving the 1.8!

With that nice massive toroid transformer it should move a 20 footer.

And that IC with the #67 on it is an eprom, it holds the firmware.

I don't see a driver chip for an IR remote, but it could be on the front panel PCB.

Thanks for your trouble, but some of my receiver remotes were operating some commands which was causing me some problems. I only use it manually with the buttons to move my incline jack so don't need the remote control now.
