Don't know which section to post this Q..

In 2000 I lived in the UK..
Had a valid sky subscription - with a sky digibox and sky digicard..
Now live on the continent..
Have a DB7020S..

Have been reading a lot of topics on sky and cards and viewing on dreambox..

My Q is:
This old skycard I have sitting in the sky digibox (haven't been in use since I left the UK in 2002) could it still be 'valid' - and can I use this in my dreambox..?
I realize that I need to purchase a sky package - but do I need to purchase a new card - and a new digibox..?

On this sky card issue - I would also like some input from you guys: If I'm not focused on sports and movies - but merely on BBC, ITV etc. would I then do fine with just a 'yellow card' in order to watch these channels..?

I can view just a few of these without any card in the dreambox - but that's only: BBC World, BBC1, ITV3 and Sky News..

Have moved this from the links list section to the Astra 28.2 section, nobody will have seen it there.

If you add all of the (correct transponder details) into the Dreambox and rescan, then you should be able to see all of the BBC and ITV offerings (subject to your size of dish and location), the card should not be necessary, it will only (when updated) allow the viewing of Channels four. five and Sky3. :)

If your card is from 2000/2 then it may be the old issue (I forget exactly when they changed, think it was early 2003) and so wouldn't update for Ch4, or any Sky package.

If it has a yellow house on it then it is the current issue.

What I do is opening Menu - Setup - Service Searching - Automatic Multisat Scan, and here I choose which satellite I wish to scan - e.g. 28.2E (or all 4 satellites - I have 4 of them) - and then start scan..

After a while it comes up finished - and then I start looking for e.g. the BBC channels..
And here is where I feel I'm stuck: I see a lot of BBC on .9W, 13E, 19.2E and 28.2E - but I'm only able to view BBC World..
I don't find e.g. CBBC, BBC News, BBC4 etc. etc.
And also - after having done several re-formats and re- installs (flashing) of the box - every time after a full and complete scan - the channels downloaded varies..

I also checked in the Transponder Edit - and 28.2E - and there I see that e.g. 10773 is there - which I beleive is the BBC one..?

So what's wrong..?

Via bluepanel - in Gemini 2.8 - I have added Newcamd-v6.10a-complete, Newcamd Config v6.0x Betad and Newcamd keys 02.05.06 - all three confirmed installation OK..
After re-start in Gemini I then try to view the BBC channels available - and I'm only able to view BBC World.
The strange thing is that in some previous re-formats and re-installs I was able to view BBC News, BBC Scotland, CBBC, ITV1 and ITV3 - but not reliably everytime..

Right now I have been through the whole setup again - and now I'm only able to view BBC World..

Oh - BTW - the old skycard is not a yellow house..
Yeah - if I want to view SKY again - I will have to purchase a new package - fair enough - although I would prefer not to open up the old vallet

Polomint,

I noticed in your profile that you have no satellite..
So how do you watch TV..? Or do you ;) ..?

I'm curious - 'cause I have a pretty fast network connection - and have been wondering if watching TV through the network is possible/better..?
And if that's gonna be the future way of watching TV..?

As BBC World is not on Astra 28.2, it would appear that either your DiseqC switch is not set up properly, or the 28.2 LNB is not set up properly.

you are right - I was just browsing the channels - and BBC World is not on 28.2E..
Yes - this is also what I suspected - but hoped not - that the diceqC or LNB needs adjustment..
I can't get to those myself - so now I'll have to call the guy to fix it..

Just to finish off this thread:

I've spent a few days sorting out my prob:
All 4 LNBs are checked and found OK..
All diseqCs are checked and found OK..
After doing a full flash and re-installation of gemini - I downloaded all 2,500 channels..

It turns out that the reason I was not able to watch the BBC FTA channels was that they all appear on both 28.2E and 28.4E..!?
The ones on 28.4E goes fine through - but the ones on 28.2E - which I had previously selected - I cannot view..

This is new to me - I thought that all were on 28.2E - but apparently not..

So - now it works - at least the FTA..

The BBC & ITV channels are on Astra 2D operating at 28.2E Your receiver isnt set up quite right if its saying 28.4. But if it works, it doesnt matter! :)

As you dont have a yellow house sky card, you may as well throw it awy - its just an ice scraper now.

All the Astra birds are at 28.2E and Eurobird is at 28.5E. The difference is small enough to be ignored until you get to dishes of about 3 metres, or more, in diameter.
