Just checking on eBay over selling a couple of old Ericsson 90's GSM phones and they appear to be worthless, but those that do buy them are almost always in Northern Europe (Baltics / Russia etc)

Is there something I should know about services over there that use the GSM system ?

My goodness. I remember seeing these back in 97 on Vodafone I think. AFAIK the band these phones work on has been auctioned off for 4G LTE. Just a guess though.

Looking at the auctions though, the working/duff phones like that end up going to the countries previously mentioned.

Is it the coverage, or are the exotic materials that make up the phone the reason for buying them ?

pass, I`m sure they still work over here with a voda sim or an o2 sim

Cheap and cheerful phone

I notice that a lot of UK Blackberry handsets end up in Africa and around that part of the world, we used to get guys coming to buy all our cheap phones, mainly Blackberrys to send back over to Africa (when I worked in a phone shop lol)
They said that when people over there buy a brand new phone locally they expect to keep it till the gray smoke escapes because theyre expensive, which would explain the need to import our old phones which are cheap and plentiful
They`d say that the people back home can`t get enough Blackberry Torch or Bold handsets

I know that the last model of Nokia with an aerial is the only mobile to get a signal in remote areas like mountains , etc .
Seen it in action , next to a modern mobile on the same network that had no signal at all , this one had 3-4 bars ...

My Mum's still using my old Nokia 6210, the battery life is still excellent and is amazing at pulling in a very low signal, the 6310i I had after that is still in use by my Brother's father in law, one of the best phones ever made.
