I have a Panasonic Viera 2009 - and have eventually got round to connecting it to my router - but the On demand section has no channels.

I've tried switching the tv off etc but still no channels.

Any ideas ? (I am really after player etc)

Hi Hania, welcome to the forum, based upon my own experiences with a Sony Bravia, from that period, in the last 10 years there have been considerable platform changes for such things as iPlayer etc, mainly to do with broadcasting formats and security however, we got rid of our TV from that era simply because such things no longer worked so I suspect you may be in the same situation

I concur with the above. Many early generation "Smart" devices have diminished or redundant On Demand features as changes to the delivery of those services were so profound that mere software updates couldn't cut the mustard.

My Humax Foxsat HDR is also a victim.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
More practical & economic in the long run is to use a separate streaming set-top box or USB Dongle (if your TV has a USB port that will work with them -most modern ones do, but older ones may not). Don't know if that TV has an HDMI output ( I doubt that) and in which case, between the set-top box and the TV, you will probably need an HDMI output to SCART input converter like this - but make sure you don't get the inverse version like this which converts a SCART Output to HDMI Input!

Iplayer on older connected tvs was discontinued in Sept 2014.

Nothing you can do about it apart from

1) change the tv
2) use a dongle or similar external device to get the service back again.

Would have mentioned 1) but not sure the OP (yet!) wants to change his TV. As for 2), that's why I mentioned his probable options (AFAIK).
