Nuts ! my 10yr old LNB has just decided to stop band switching :-comp

Hope it's that and not the SS1, coz if it is then :-cry1

Anyone heard of PCI card just refusing to bandswitch for no reason ??

L.

OK cancel that.

After an hour (of being still switched on) it's righted itslf again :confused

I hate transient faults.:p

AHhh, now see you say that but here's the thing.

At 11:30 this morning the same thing happened again, and when I returned 30 mins ago all was normal.

This coincides with the maximum amount of heat from the sun bearing in mind that I have a South facing aspect and the LNB casing is of course black. Are the electronics cooking in the heat and refusing to switch (unlikley I know) but I seem to be stuck in hi band which would indicate that the signal is present but I cant switch it off to drop down.(the other incidence was on a similar sunny day)

Any Thoughts ?

Is it just a standard 40mm collar Lancelot? If so, I have some old ones here, unless you want to lash out on a new one. :D

Yes Rolf,
It's an old 'Oxford' LNB (copy of the Cambridge I think) 40mm mount.
Tnx for the offer. :)

The sun will have been blasting the lnb with near max heat around then. I wonder if the LNB was just cooking?

OT:One of our 7 servers shut down for no reason today. The temperature on the thermometer screwed to the wall behind the servers was 33C! Senior management seem to be finally coming round to the idea we need cooling in the room.... (no windows in there)

For the record It was a P2 server (with just 256mb RAM with NT4 on it) No wonder the system is struggling these days.

Got my new LNB today :D (cheers Rolf). What a difference !
Cubavision on 58 W has a signal improvement of about 10% or so.
Off to re-load the rest of the arc now to see what happens

4 chnls of feeds from BT tower and Cubavision i'm afraid. Only use it to check the ends of the arc.
