Is there anyway that I could get more channels from my existing sky dish? I've heard i could put my dish on an electric motor to pick up other satellites Is this correct? Or do I need some new equipment?

Yes, you can motorise dishes, but if yours is a Sky minidish, there won't be much that yu can see with it, plus the Digibox has no way of driving it and is not suited for other satellite viewing.

The fitting on many Sky dishes is not suitable for motorising, and for serious channel hopping you really need an 80cm dish. And a different receiver.

What would be your advice on getting started in satellites? What would be the best equipment to start with? And how much would I be looking at spending?

You're asking a lot in one post :-doh!

The best thing you can do is read up on all the information available in this forum, and come back with any specific questions afterwards.

Good luck

New 80-90cm dish, diseqc motor, Universal LNB, good basic receiver (Technomate 1000/1500 maybe), cables, fitting etc. £300-odd. Cheaper if you want to fit yourself and/or shop around. £500-700 if you want to go mad.
