I've had a kind e-mail saying "where have you been ?............................." and I thought I'd render forth on forums (forae, fori or whatever more than one forum is). It's true I've been absent but not because the forum is rubbish-just the opposite. It's because I've been sickened by forums, or some of their subscribers, up to the gunnels.

You join chiefly to problem solve and to help like minded people. But as time rolls on you discover the forum has been hi-jacked by a clique. In some cases they're no more than a band of bullies setting out to do no more than make people feel bad. At best, are pundits breast beating to flash off their knowledge and everyone else's ignorance.

On reflection, this forum was never like that, but I just stopped going on forums for fear of the potential abuse.

The trouble is, also, that the guys on this forum were so helpful I've had a working set of kit thus obviating my needs. That's selfish.

I'll make an effort to rejoin the community now I've got that off my chest.

best regards to all

P.S:)

Welcome back Pete

Well I do understand what you are referring to however I am glad that you have noticed we try not to allow people to come on the forum and breastbeat. Knowledge is a powerful thing and can often be abused by those possessing it. There have been some who have used that technique on that forum but I can assure you they do not stay long if they try to abuse their power. It is also a way of boosting their ego and self esteem however the effect is like alcohol and they tend to over compensate for their under the thumb home life.

As I said welcome back

Glad to see you back. :)

I agree, many people do drift away when they achieve a working setup, often to appear a year or so later when circumstances change. But for whatever reason they return it is always good to see them back and we have opened and are opening, diverse sections to encourage members to keep visiting, even if their original reason has long since disappeared. :)

Yes, things change. But, I think that this forum has more going for it than just that which it's title might suggest. I strongly believe that this is one of the best, if not the best, forums available.

Glad to have you back.

Have you been on a certain D:S by chance? If you have, I fully understand, that forum is a jungle!

They're the reason why I came here, I'd love to rant about it, but, it was a couple of years ago, so meh... :D

To tell you the truth, I haven't browsed many satellite forums other than this, so, I can't comment. I try to do as many repairs as possible to my motors, and my profession is music technology and digital video editing along with the computer based stuff that goes with it. From that, you can only imagine the plethora of sites I end up registering on. I hate "taking the money and running" but that's what I end up doing once I try to join in the forum community. I was beginning to think it was just me and I was some kind of "virtual misfit" but you guys' nods of concourance make me feel a lot better. Thanks, and hello again. I'll go and see what's going on here. regards, P.S
