Hi,

I have a PACE DS430N from my old place, and I'm wondering - is it possible to get FTA from it without the FSFS from Sky? There's a serial port on it - what would this enable me to do?

Yes - the box will work fine for all the free channels.

The serial port wont allow you to do anything useful with the box :D

Without a card you will get FTA channels
With a card you will get FTA and FTV
and if you take out a subscription, whatever level your pocket can manage dictates what you get

Have a look here

Going to try with my PACE DS430N

Good luck let us know how you get on

Summat odd's happening. Plugged the box into the TV SCART - hit the AV button and just a blank black screen. When I turn off the Sky box, it goes back to the channel normally, and when I turn it on, it goes back to the black screen ?!

Most odd problem - it's like the video out isn't happy
How do you factory-reset these things?

Try the scart in another socket, or another scart lead. Just switching off at the mains will restart the box, there is a factory reset on the installer menu, but you need to be able to see it to do it and i don't think it would make any difference anyway. Also try with an aerial lead, the default rf channel is channel 68.

Hmm. Don't think ti's the scart lead or TV - it got a bit of a whacking in the boot of me car (irish roads...fast Volvo...) so I'm off to get a Lifetime Ultra, at least I can have at the firmware of that!

Just returned with a Lifetime ultra plus, should do the trick - except I have no compass! Anyone know of any GPS software that has a compass? I tried some last night, maybe I just need to fiddle a bit more!

Probably the Digibx is set to RGB output but the TV doesn't understand RGB If you're getting the sound then I'd say almost certainly the case.

If you're not geting any sound then it could be any number of things including a duff box I'm afraid.

Meh, the Fortec is much handier for alignment - that signal meter came in handy! Pick your bird, go until you see a huge spike in signal and hten play from tere
