Hi ..
Nice results ... many channels there i,v never seen :) ... what size dish at your location ? .... Very large dishes needed here in the U.K. ..... a coincidence you posted your list today ... as only yesterday i setup my 2.4 channel master with linear C band l.n.b. again - to see what Paksat would reveal currently ... some of us here have picked up from there with smaller dishes 1.8 and even 1.5 i think ...
there is past thread here .... Paksat 1R 38E

A blind scan brought up 20 channels for me here tonight in North West u.k.

Well, I m in India... so its fairly easy hunt for me, here.
I have managed to track it on 4 feet dish. Though, still a couple of TPs are missing from my hunt as well. Guess, it would require somewhat bigger dish at my place as well.

Individual transponder strengths can vary a lot from day here ... and ones previously unseen can appear. sometimes with quite strong signal :).
poor weather here today - just 4 transponders - 9 channels here this morning .... strongest is 3819 V 6200 at 8.5 db

Yes, weather can play a spoilsport in satellite hunting.
For me the strongest TP is 3800 V 7200 ( express music tp)

Thought I would have a bash at this one with a Chapparel Tri Band Corotor in the Midlands with a 1.8, managed to lock a transponder with good level, might get some more with a tweak..P1010018.JPGP1010019.JPGP1010020.JPG

Nice DX'ing, a good signal catch.

What LNB's are you using on the Chaparral Tri-Rotor for Ku-Band and C-Band? The C-Band looks like a Norsat and the Ku-Band looks like a dual output Swedish Microwave?

Nice work. I could always get around 3 or 4 transponders on that satellite but haven't tried it any time recently.

Ku is a SMW dual output with a 22Khz switch in line and the C Band is a Patriot PLL.

Guys Hi!,

Can we get the Paksat Bird on a 1.2 Channel master Dish?
Which would be the best Feedhorn\ C-band LNB to use

It depends on where you are located. From a UK location you have very little chance of getting C-Band signals from Paksat at 38.0E with a 1.2m dish.

Not that I know of, they seem to be OK on one band but at the compromise of the other band.

A common practice is to mount multiple LNB's, one for C-Band and one for Ku-Band.
There are custom made LNB holders for a channel master dish that are useful in this respect. If you search the forum you will find options for multi LNB holders for a channel master dish.

In practice, a 1.2m dish is on the small side for C-Band, you will receive some signals from the strong satellites but you will be missing a lot of frequencies and some satellites.

Hi
I.m sorry to say that you will need Much bigger than 1.2 m For Paksat up here in the North of the u.k. (I see you list being just outside Manchester) . i wouldn,t recommend anything less than 1.8 - even that would be "very" limited in what it would receive. We are just way too far off the main footprint for this satellite here in the uk.
I,v had results here with very large dishes 2.4 - 3.0 meters ... but even with those there were still transponders that were out of reach.

Some other C band satellites are much stronger and can bring in a small number of channels on 1.2 .

Dual KU and C-band l.n.bs will work to a degree, on dishes large enough to overcome the fact that they are a compromise -
As Moonbase said separate l.n.b,s is the way to go.

Regards .

There's also another big problem trying to receive 38° East C-band in the UK and that is interference from the strong satellite signals at 40° East. A very large reflector of 4mtr plus , having a very narrow beamwidth so as to effectively reduce the interference from 40°E and also with high enough gain to sniff out sufficient signal from a near non-existing signal footprint for us in the UK. The further North you live in the UK the more difficult it will be to get reception . Iv'e been trying to capture certain C-band signals here in North Nottinghamshire from 38° East on a dedicated C-band 2.2mtr Elite PF antenna with no luck of getting signals to lock - due to the two problems i listed at the beginning

My 1.8m does get a couple of transponders from 38E - at least it did about a year ago. But I am further south.

Guys
Thank you so much for the information. Not worth investing in a bigger dish and C-band LNBs..... I'll stick with the KU band frequency from 42E to 45W
