I have been looking for something like this forever - a HDD recorder with digital tuner that will also record from an external source.......in my case an NTSC signal coming from a satellite signal.

This seems to do everything, including the above......also has an RF Modulator which I need.

Only problem is its £400 which is outrageous for a single tuner

I thought I should post about this as people keep telling me there is no such thing as a HDD Recorder with Freeview and has the ability to record from an external source.......

If anyone has this machine I would love to hear what you have to say or anyone who has seen it under £400...?

Just being curious here.

Why does this not meet your spec - Digifusion FVRT100 Digital Video Recorder - £95.

Hi - thanks for trying to help me........the 2 main things it must have are:-

RF Modulator - which this doesnt say it has?

NTSC Recording - which this also doesnt say it does, just mentions PAL as far as I can see.

I have been researching this all day and I am so confused its unreal - found a DVD Recorder called Panasonic DMREH60D which i thought would do everything but I am now unsure if it switches automatically between PAL and NTSC recording...........so in other words - if I set it to record Freeview (PAL) at 6pm and then Satellite (NTSC) at 9pm and I was out all night I am guessing it might not do it now......unless I keep popping home and changing to type of signal, :D :-bash

Spec says it has "Output for IF Loop-through, IEC169-2, male"

Isn't that the RF Modulator you want.

I don't know enough about NTSC conversion to comment.

I am no expert myself but I wouldnt have thought so otherwise it would say modulator.......it also says the words 'loop-through' which is very suspicious as its the loop which I dont want?!
