So, I was playing around with the sky+ box this morning (adding schannels), and when it came to having a butchers at my efforts, it demanded a PIN. Is this Sky's way of discouraging using the "add channels" feature?

If you know your PIN, then you should be able to turn this off. I don't think it is a deliberate tactic. but a by product of the latest parental control updates.

Make sure ALL parental controls are turned off, and the problem goes away. :0

Sure your pin number is the last 4 digits of your sky card!

Cheers for the advice, guys. Heh, now to dig-out the PIN (it's not the last 4 digits of the card in this case).

You need a PIN to get to the parental controls! Get a card, and if the box is secondhand, you may need to phone Sky to get the pin number reset as unless you changed the PIN its the last 4 digits of the card that was first paired to the box.

Ring Sky to get it reset in that case.

yeah, found that out when i had a go trying to get into the parental controls menu, the box is from a carboot (surely you remember :D shaun aka freeview_mad :D)

When i try to get into the parental controls menu i assume i need a card and a pin as it asks for a viewing card first, how will sky be able to reset the pin btw? Through phoneline or satellite signal,

thanks :)
