The bath tap combo has been playing up for a while, but now is the time to repair, if possible.20200808_114438.jpg20200808_114504.jpg20200808_124445.jpg

I have dismantled as far as I can without breaking anythng but the next stage looks like I have to get forceful.

Q1 - Does the spout come apart with some sideways motion, either a thread or just a push fit with the appropriate washer ?

Q2 - Does come apart, is the plastic plunger inside a replaceable part or do I have to fix whatever comes out ?

Whilst it might require desoldering this looks purely like a calcified thread issue, but any assistance appreciated

I doubt if you will find a replacement, if I remember it is spring loaded, therefore can be compressed to turn and take out. The problem being it goes brittle over the years. To save dismantling turn it to shower mode and put in some descaler for a few hours. Vinegar is good but takes a long time.
P.S. Get a Harveys water softener. Saves all the water marks, shower always looks clean and ensures her indoors bakes some nice cakes.

Ah, I didn't know there were metal parts in there.

Does the spout come apart with a twist or a pull ? (Ooooer)

May not be a spring, some simply worked by the lever repositioning the plastic valve. The spout may have a grub screw on the tap body at the rear. They pull out, often only in a position to the left or right of centre. This was done to stop the spout coming out if there is no grub screw fitted. Pull the spout up as you move it around.

No grub screw, as you can see it is already dismantled from the bath and drained, ready to go further.

Will try some manipulating tomorrow.

No need unless you want to remove the plastic part. Probably just needs the limescale removing.

I had already scraped away as much as I could reach through both available orifices. If I can get the valve mechanism out I can check for the mechanical design and if there is a spring or possibly a neoprene seal underneath.

Dharkeyga guntaday waxaa ka buuxa dillaac.
Which translates on Google translates to 'my underwear is full of tears', believing it to be the Somali language, whether that is tears as in salty water or tears as in torn cloth is difficult to understand/know.
The former could mean you have wet your pants, the second that something has shredded your underwear, were the underpants that exploded made out of ammonium nitrite?
